  3. Also…I was given specific measurements for the photos. There are online services that will let you scan a US passport photo in and resize it into the exact measurements for the Visa size photos. I'm expecting them this week. I also have the passport size ones in the folder.

  4. I'm coming to Portugal in September. I'm doing Porto, Tomar, Obidos, Lisbon, Sintra and the Algarve. We have 11 days. It should give me a feel for the country and I'm considering retirement there. Then, off to Rome for 11 more days in Italy.

  5. 😩 that’s a lot of documents to gather & must haves to accomplish a residency. Oh my Gosh. Sounds exhausting & time & money 💰consuming. My head is spinning 😩.

  6. Can you please specify not to open the mailing envelope. There is an envelope the report is in but that is not the one. My checklist said don't open the FBI envelope. My mailer came from Print Scan and that confused me because it wasn't an FBI envelope so I thought the real one was inside. Now, unfortunately, my report is off to get apostilled. It was a very stressful experience when I realized I made that mistake. But now I have to wait 4-5 weeks. My appointment with VFS is in 8 weeks so I should be ok. But still…I felt so stupid when I found out it was the mailer.

  7. I got in just too late on the live feed for this. A guy asked about his $900 SS check being enough and most people immediately jumped in and said not if you want to be comfortable. But if all you have is a $900 SS check wouldn't you still have a better quality of life in Portugal than in the u.s.? I know where I live an income of $900 a month doesn't even get you a government subsidized low income apartment. Basically $900 a month = homeless , so by that standard you would be way more comfortable in Portugal. Remember not all expats are true expats ( rich people from rich country moving to a less expensive foreign country) some expats are moving because they can't afford to stay in the u.s.
