Over the next couple of years, Ontario intends to receive 100 immigrants as part of a program that allows foreign entrepreneurs to apply for immigration following their investment of at least $200,000 in the economy of the province.

According to Labour Minister Monte McNaughton, the government will concentrate on bringing overseas entrepreneurs to Ontario towns outside the Greater Toronto Area.

After forming a new firm or purchasing an existing company in Ontario, he claims that these entrepreneurs will be chosen for immigration under the economic immigration program of the province.

As per McNaughton, the government would spend $6 million on the new project and then be regained via the fees paid by immigrants who arrive at the province to develop or purchase enterprises.
