In order to get a permanent New Zealand residence, you’ll first need to receive a New Zealand resident visa. These resident visas are available for skilled workers, immediate family members reunification, distinguished talent, investors, and more. The permanent resident visa can allow you permanent residence status, however, there is a period of two, five, or ten years in which you are allowed to travel freely from New Zealand.
After this initial period and the resident visa expired you should apply for a permanent New Zealand resident visa (PRV).
To be eligible to become a permanent resident, you must have been living in New Zealand for at least two years, have met the conditions of your initial visa, and have shown a commitment to New Zealand.

You need to be a billonaire to live here. Capsicums currently cost $5 each and eggplant are $8 each ..just as an example. Rents and housing costs are out of control. I had a successful plantbased food manufacturing company . I would say that had high growth potential but very hard to get ahead. They definitely need help with supporting small businesses as there is little support or expertise available locally. We are leaving after 20 years.This is NOT the place to be.

If one obtains a 10 year Permanent Residents Permit in New Zealand …. The permit has to be renewed when your overseas passport expires. Is there a minimum amount of time that you must have spent in NZ in order for that permit to be renewed? Keep in mind that your passport may happen to expire at any time during the validity period of the NZ Permanent Residents permit. The validity period of each are in no way liked to the other. What if you weren’t in NZ for a number of years, would that be a problem when you came to renew?
Australian permanent residents can also move to NZ permanently.

All I'll say is that there's basically no jobs, high crime, high taxes, almost entire suburbs in the South Island that are empty (except for a handful of families) all year because the properties are almost all foreign owned, still even with their closed border (except to Australia) policy have some of the hardest restrictions – still requiring mandatory jabs and masks even though they have basically no cases, and then you have to consider that most kiwi's have moved to Australia prior to all this and never gone back to NZ. That should tell you everything you need to know.

I was born here, x5 decades later under EXTREME Marxism (Jacinda Ardern was the president of would Socialist Youth when she became prime minister) rule and I can’t plan my escape from NZL quick enough…currently looking into MM2H Malaysia. Violent Crime in NZL has exploded. Shootings daily in Auckland, muggings, beatings, stabbing are now minor news mentions every say. The woke left have broken our society.

I recently left NZ. I got sick of the social engineering from the mad socialist Ardern. She's lost a ton of support but still not enough to ensure she won't be in again next year for another 3 years.

I’m staggered how 1 leader and her “cronies” can stuff up a great country in such a short period of time. I can confirm first hand that criminals in NZ are being let off their crimes and the healthcare system is at best 3rd world quality. We have historically low unemployment yet historically high beneficiaries – go figure that! Any entrepreneur will be treated like a 3rd class citizen and taxed to hell so that all the lazy people can keep being lazy.

NZ is a millionaire's paradise playground. I struggle to understand why government wants to chase away rich people with money to burn. Maybe they can't distinguish between fleeing oligarchs, kleptocrats gangsters and "legitimate" rich immigrants….
