Nicole Ross

PADA Studios Artists-in-residence Nicole Ross (b. 1993) is a multidisciplinary artist based between New York and Lisbon.

“My work taps into a loneliness central to corporeality. I approach my work in two ways simultaneously: creating direct, intuitive gestures as a response to the physicality of an existing material and a slower, layered generation of poetic networks. I see glimpses of nonhuman selves or lovers that exist in a state of tension, near-release, of impermanence all around us. A material anthropomorphism gains meaning as our own bodily integrity is challenged under contemporary alienation. My working process is an intuitive heightening of these embodied frailties – creating an image of the world as one that can touch back in a deliberate, aggressive, tender way.”

PADA is an Art Residency & Gallery based in a post-industrial site near Lisbon, Portugal.
