Its time for Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal to face the Super Eagles in an international friendly match. This is the first time Nigeria Super Eagles will be playing Portugal and the match will be played on Thursday the 17th of November 2022 by 7:45pm Nigerian Time and 6:45pm Portugal time at the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon, Portugal.
Just few days ago, the Super Eagles B team lost to Costa Rica 2 goals to nil in a friendly match. Meanwhile Portugal last match was a 1-0 loss against Spain in the UEFA nations league on the 27th of September while the main Super Eagles team last match was a 2-1 loss against Algeria also on the 27th of September.
For this game, sadly one of star player – Victor Osimhen would be missing due to injury sustained few days ago, but there are other fantastic players that could step in for this encounter. Players like Alex Iwobi, Ademola Lookman, Joe Aribo, among many others should create some threat to the Portuguese. And maybe we get to see our goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho make some saves like he did when he faced Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United some weeks ago.
Portugal will be going to the world cup and will be facing Ghana who stopped us from going to the world cup next week Thursday. And of course, Ronaldo wants to win the world cup, but they must first make it out of the group that features Ghana, Uruguay and South Korea, and on paper, Portugal should win the group or at least come second.
Because this is a friendly match, I feel like the result can go either way. The Super Eagles would definitely want to make a statement by defeating Portugal at home in Lisbon, but it won’t be easy.
