I think these agents need to be a lot more careful about the way they inspect drugs. Using the same pocket knife to take samples of drugs and put it on the testing sheet is not a sufficient way of testing. If you take a look at a pocket knife under a microscope you will see that the blade is not perfectly smooth, it’s actually got tons of craters…the little places were debris and bacteria catches. When something is contaminated you can’t continue to use that same item to take samples from other sources. Also, They fail to mention that it is a highly likely possibility that just travelling with your bag through the parking garage, airport or is the street you will pick up trace amounts of drugs. It’s not safe for these agents the way they are handling the drugs and they need to be wearing gloves and a mask and not using their personal pocket knife to cut drugs open and take samples. Somebody needs to rewrite their policy and procedure manual because someone is going to get hurt.
