OFF GRID life in Central Portugal. Slowly making progress on our rural land.

I can’t believe it is our third week on the land already. We definitely made some progress, but still have a lot to do. Because temperatures are rising here in central Portugal we have to slow down on our work. It is very unfortunate however we have to take care of ourselves and slowly adjust to the high temperatures.

For now it is very important to make our land save, or at least saver. Building a fence around our wells then also for the garden and one to fence the living area of our land.

We hope you like this video and make things more clear on what we are doing.

A big thanks to all of you who support and thinking along with us, we really appreciate it ❤️

Warm greetings from,

Arend, Bionda, Yanick, Thekla & Neorah.

  1. Removing eucalyptus trees is easier said than done, cut them down and they regrow many trees on the one stump, burn the stump and they still come back, the only way is to dig up and remove the stumps, requires large machinery to do this. Summer is the time to rest for you and the land.

  2. Hi Bionda, Arend and kids! I'm loving to follow your journey. Your land looks great and it has a very beautiful landscape around it. ❤ The wells do have a pretty good water level for summer time and that's great for off-grid living.
Don't ask too much of yourselves during July and August. Too hot even for the local farmers. Stay in the shade as much as possible, try to park your motorhome under tree shade and look for river/lake beaches or public swimming pools. In Portugal, Summer is time to slow down 😉🌹

  3. Hello, excellent video, try to sell the eucalyptus trees, they are not trees native to Portugal, they are invasive and very dangerous for fires, once you sell the eucalyptus, plant native trees from Portugal and from the area there are many beautiful native pines as well as other species it would be fantastic if you did… a strong hug and God bless you

  4. It is very sensible to make a fence especially when you have small children ,for debarking the fence posts the best tool for it is a draw knife it does help a lot when the trees are still fresh it will male your life much easier.good luck with all the clearing and digging holes,
    thanks for sharing.
