Opponents of Nationalisation DESTROYED

These two statistics sum up how broken British society is: while BP are making £6.9bn worth of profits – a 14 year high – typical household energy bills are forecast to hit more than £3,600 a year.

We should never have surrendered the natural monopoly of the energy industry to profiteers in the first place. We’re joined by the incredible expert Mathew – Lawrence – founder and director of UK-based think tank Common Wealth – to explain why the industry is broken, why the energy company’s arguments against more taxes are total bunk – and why we should bring the sector under public ownership for the sake of struggling families, a broken economy and society – and the future of the planet.

  1. Capitalism is endemically flawed. Every crisis facing our planet can be linked to it directly or indirectly. Imagine companies that have no shareholders and instead owned by its stakeholders: consumers, collaborators and its creators that are paid a kind of UBI dividends based on stakeholders participation that is determined by open AI. This is now possible with the blockchain.

  2. Marcus Follin Golden one homosexual gay. He hot Thomas that friend. Is gay pride march went to Sweden yes. You need in the future. What England London Britain politically like dreadful Thomas.

  3. You hurt the SNP Thomas it gender change in NHS in Scotland yes. It not happen again in England London Britain. You seen the movie. Who pushed it Frankfurt school English people said no to it Politically in Britain England politically Thomas.

  4. Nationalisation isn't going to happen even under a labour government because your just bailing out shareholders and acquiring their debt you need to be more creative.

The only exception is rail which is run on a franchise system and it needs integration

You can introduce competion into the markets to drive the prices down in electricity the government could have hoovered up the customers from the failed companies set up its own not for profit once its up and running and the market stabilised it could take on customers acting as a brake on market excesses.

I don't believe the utilities should have been privatised in the first place but we are where we are one of Corbyn's great failures was promising to turn back the clock on Thatcherism.

  5. Happy you raised that some people have had to stop their donations due to the cost of living crisis, because the government are missing in action a lot of lower earners rely on Charity when we should have a better social security system, a lot of those donations come from middle earners not the super rich like they would make you think, and a lot of middle earners are now also struggling when before they never dreamed they'd be struggling, and the first thing to go is the donations to things like charity, it is a sad state of affairs

  6. Owen what really gets me is the energy companies know the effect these huge energy hikes are having on poorer households but they don't care, they carry on giving shareholders the lionshare under the pretext "we work hard" (!) Are they saying workers, who do the lionshare of the work, don't work hard? It's astonishing. I would love to see a Wealth tax and a tax on energy consumption, bearing in mind the rich use the most energy and produce the most CO2. I cannot believe the govt still subsidises fossil fuels!

  7. All we need is ONE company in full public ownership. If the benefits of privatisation are apparent, privatised companies should be able to compete with a nationalised service through efficiencies according to the Neoliberal mantra.

  8. Just a simple question for all the big brain geniuses watching this.
Is the lefts plan to nationalize oil and gas companies, and then stop people using oil and gas?
This is why nobody takes you seriously.

  9. As a matter of basic national security, essential private infrastructure should not be in the hands of private business, particularly foreign-owned private business.

  10. windfall tax is a con, should be a cap on profits. one off tax, which goes to poeple, who use it to pay the same companies, who use the profits to buy back shares, who then give huge dividends and huge payouts to management and rich shareholders, whilst poor get poorer

  11. Absolutely nationalize ,this will prevent the greed ridden profiteering hawks exploiting the public and pandering to their shareholders. We have been held hostage to Tory greed for long enough. Wake up starmer.

  12. All these companies should be nationalised without compensation as a warning to others trying to shaft UK taxpayers. Thames water has taken on billions of debt just to pay whopping dividends and ludicrous pay packages to the bosses.

  13. Vote for the social Democratic Party in their manifesto is to re nationalise energy supply and call it British energy and invest in energy something that, the Conservatives, and Labour are not doing or even talking about.
