  1. Benfica wins every year! Are you suprised? It's so boring? it's always Benfica, in every seventh year, maybe Porto takes the title, but the team with the most money wins and that will be, you know, how exciting is that?
    The food in average in Portugal is the worst in the world. You can dine att fine resaurants but in general it's very low standards. For example the meat in the country has the highest levels of antibiotica in Europe. I can also say, go to a bigger supermercado, chose one, and compare the supply with any other in most of the other in Europe, Portugal is a looser.

  2. I just discovered you guys here. I am Portuguese living in Canada for most my life. I can relate to how you describe the differences between Denmark and Portugal. In Canada, we have many similarities to Denmark, we work to live as opposed to live to work and of course the weather. I have been going to Portugal for 3 week holidays every year for the last 5 years. I too would love to retire there and seeing you guys explain everything is very informative. I envy you! Enjoy

  3. You still have alot to see in our beautifull country
    Don't miss a trip to Silves and check the outstanding Castle
    Go and check Sagres coastline… it's just crazy beatifull
    Go to Monchique and eat Assadura… I usually do it in Restaurante "Luar da Foia" that is in the road to the top of the mountain, that you should also check the amazing view.
    You have to try "Cozido à Portuguesa", "Jantar de Grão", "Ervilhas com Ovos Escalfados" and "Feijoada à Transmontana", if you still didn't do it.

    In the events side you need to check Festival do chocolate em óbidos;
    Festival AgitÁgueda with the Umbrella Sky;
    Carnaval de Torres Vedras ou Caranaval de Loulé

    Go to a huge summer musical festival, like EDP Vilar de Mouros, MEO Marés Vivas, MEO Sudoeste, NOS Alive, Super Bock Super Rock, Vodafone Paredes de Coura, NOS Primavera Sound, Sumol Summer Fest, Vodafone Paredes de Coura.
    Also you have the HUGE festival this year that is Rock in Rio Lisboa… it's a big festival in Lisbon.

    You can come to Algarve also in the summer to close it, at the end of August/star of September to see the amazing Festival F in Faro inside the Old City that is surrounded by the Castle.

    Also in Algarve you have Festival do Marisco in Olhão that is amazing sea food festival.

    In Algarve aswell you have 2 more traditional Festivals, with a huge focus in local stores that are Fatacil in Lagoa, and Feira da Serra de São Brás de Alportel that you REALLY should check!

    You also have here, in Algarve, the Traditonal Noite de Prata in São Brás de Alportel and Noite Branca in Loulé, that are essencially the welcome Summer and Farewell summer parties.

    Feira Ovibeja in Alentejo also deserves a visit… it's a very traditional but big event where you can find even livestock!

    Oh! And go to Teatro Politeama in Lisbon and Check a Felipe La Féria Musical. Any of it… La Féria is the name of the piece Director.

    And last you should eat something "à Lagareiro"… it can be Bacalhau or Polvo or Potas dosen't matter…You have to try it! I do it very often in my house. Also don't miss "Bacalhau com Natas" and "Bacalhau com Broa em cama de Espinafres"… I hightly recomend it.

    On the dessert side don't miss , Barrigas de Freira, Ovos Moles de Aveiro, Toucinho do Céu, Tigelada, Pasteis de Tentúgal (my Favorite), Queijadas de Sintra, Travesseiros de Sintra, Sericaia, Bolo de alfarroba, Folar Traditional de Olhão, Morgados, Dão Rodrigo. Docaria Conventual in something that came straight from hell! lol

    Peras bebadas is also something very interesting.

    Portugal is so rich that you go 50kg from your starting point are and it seems that you entered in another country.

    P.S.: For a hidden gem come to São Brás de Alportel Festa da Tochas Coloridas in Easter Sunday… it's an remarkable experience.

    P.S.2: I live in Algarve do alot of this are based on my more local experiences.

  4. When you guys see French people in Portugal they are usually Portuguese who live in France and go to Portugal during the summer, you might ask why they only speak french then… Well that is a really good question that we still don't have an answer for.

  5. I'm from the Algarve, but if there's a place in Portugal that I always recommend to those visiting the country is the Alentejo region! Breathtaking, rural, cheap and great cuisine! My favorite place.
