I'm from Norway, the friendly neighbor to "big brother" Sweden. You two are a great inspiration to me! I started planning to retire to Portugal years ago, but this brings it so much more to life. As for now, I'm saving up to buy a (as high standard as possible) micro-house to bring with me. I don't know how to build houses at all, and your comments tells me I'd probably make a big mess out of it… 😀 My online research has drawn me towards Portimão, but to save on cost I'm thinking I'll buy land in the mountain areas north of there and do some modern farming/gardening as a hobby mostly for my own (and family/friends) consumption. I am wondering if it's possible to make my own fortified wine as well. This year I'll go (with one of my brothers) in late winter for a 5 weeks road trip to research in person. (Hopefully gas prices will not be ruinous by then…) Thank you both again, for being such a positive inspiration!
