  1. It seems like the plumbing issue is going to be an ongoing saga, with not being able to get him there. If it is copper piping, there are now copper crimp fittings (no soldering involved…!) and I am wondering if it might be worth trying to skill yourselves up in some basic plumbing techniques so you can do the quick fixes yourselves. Looking amazing out there. Very inspiring.

  2. Somebody probably already noted that, but that lime tree went in far too deep. NEVER plant a tree deeper than it was in the pot. The tree will die eventually. There's a saying you can't plant a tree too shallow or a shrub too deep. 😉 I would also advise making the trench wider, but start by taking away the earth away from the trunk to the level it was in the pot. Good luck with your projects!

  3. I’m loving watching your renovation and restoration journey! It will be a great way for your kids to grow up 😍 it was surprising for me that you burned the leaves, twigs and other plant/shrub/tree cuttings – Leaves and twigs are great resources and it’s a shame to just burn it. You can also leaves to make leaf mould. Twigs can be composted. If you’re planning to grow vegetables, research “hugelkultur” which is where you build beds on logs, twigs, leaves, grass, compost, etc and it creates a really fertile growing area. Someone else mentioned a chipper which is a great idea too – you could use the chipping a on your compost heap or in your paths 😊

  4. A tip on planting trees soak the pot before planting and mulch on top. Unfortunately you’ll need to take out all the roots of bamboo. You can try black plastic or news paper and that might work.

  5. Perhaps grow your own Bamboo Forest and sell that as a side bizo? Maybe you could make
your own kitchen counters from your Bamboo? Its a pesty plant to get rid of and due to that
it could be to your advantage that you think of ways to work with it and all things it could be
of use for. There's the Rock of Gibraltar, how bout the Rock of Crusoe?
You guys are doing a wonderful job tidying up that mini jungle, its gonna look absolutely
fabulous so, well done! Consider keeping Nans vines and making wine or grape Jiu syrup for
cocktails. Could be fun! Crusoe is such a happy baby 💖

  6. Those lemons! I have serious lemon envy now! Lemons as well as all the things you mentioned, make amazing cleaners – Soaking the bruised peels in vinegar to get the oils out, you could make a concentrate that you can then just dilute to use when needed. Candied peels are also delicious, and for John, if his lemon cider is anything like the Thatchers cloudy lemon cider when it's done, it's going to taste amazing!

Sadly, with the bamboo to get rid of it (without the use of really nasty weedkiller-type chemicals), and realistically that means just keeping what you have in a manageable state, is to dig up the rhysomes as they will simply just run underground – pulling up the shoots will only produce more shoots in the long run.
If you can dedicate a small-ish area to be bamboo-proofed and then transplant some there for future canes etc. safe in the knowledge that it will stay contained, that will allow you to methodically work through the other areas where it's invaded and wrangle it under control… But it's a dig only job to be honest.

I wish I personally had a memorable rock where I live, but I do live quite near to Dartmoor with its many Tors so, as he was also an adventurer and his spelling only has one extra letter, you could call it Tor Rock after Thor Heyerdahl :o)

  7. Re lemon drink called raddler. If that’s the beer you can buy in bali I’d does have alcohol though very little. I don’t drink alcohol JT find Radner’s really refreshing on hot day My favourite is grapefruit but not keen on orange or raspberry

  9. What a beautiful adventure! I think you are very lucky to have found this property. I'm a bit jealous about the hammock you found though 😁❤️. Thanks for the great video

  10. Beautiful family! Glad you caught the word Eskimo ! To add to that I saw a TikTok that said they don’t kiss like that either but instead share a kind of burrowing smell on the cheek. Having said that our family did ´Eskimo’and butterfly kisses, just another sweet way to connect. ..perhaps with a new name?
