Theo and Bee gave up their busy city lifestyles in 2014 to explore alternative living, and have lived in vans and boats since then without looking back! Along with their cat Ginjey Bear they have been driving around the world in their self converted Sprinter van. However, when the global pandemic hit they began converting their abandoned stone barn in Central Portugal to turn into a wonderful tiny stone cottage. Along the way, they have rescued a playful cat called Furrnando and have a wonderful flock of Chickens!

Thank you for all your support
Say it isn't so…I can no longer find Ken and Gina's video on the OK Portugal site. Somebody please tell me I am wrong.
I am so sorry.
I am devastated for you to hear your news ….. I remember seeing the original sales video for the property with its lake and lots of buildings. There is always hope for the future. Stay strong. ❤️
I am sorry for your loss. Take time to grieve, yes losing land, home that is something to grieve for.
Can you sell the city home for startup money for rebuilding?
Heartbroken.
Sending you love
Sry for the loss … not surprised though in such a volatile environment. Might be time to focus, reflect on the ongoing incomplete projects and let this one regenerate naturally over time if it is still livable. This one was out of the blue! God speed you guys … stay safe.🙏🇲🇸
Have you got any more property we don’t know about?
My thoughts are so much with you both, you are both strong people who will make it magnificent again , you take care of each other, life can be a so and so at times but hey get up and rise this place xx
I'm so very sorry about your property, but glad that you were not living there and all settled in. That would have been even more devastating. Even more importantly you are safe. I feel deeply for those who lost everything and as someone mentioned, you do have another place to live in the interim. I hope that you both can heal after this unfortunate set back, and Bea, stay strong as you can. I know a situation like this wreaks havoc on your mental health, but take heart and do your best to get yourself in a good place. I am praying for you both and hope going forward that things improve for you.
really really sorry
So sorry for all your loss. I am sure there are no words to adequately describe how you both feel. I have lived in the Pacific Northwest in the US for most of my life. Over the last decade I have witnessed so many wild fires that have devastated many acres. However I haven't personally seen anything like this. I have followed The Indie Projects since your van build and I have always been amazed at how hard you both work. You both have turned a 5 acre property into one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. I particularly love the goats, the chickens and your beautiful little tiny home. Every Monday I look forward to watching a new video. Thank you so much for everything you both do.
I'm so sorry to hear about you new property, I can imagine how devastating that would be. I'm glad you still have the main house, trees will grow back and you will both recover from this tradgedy you have each other and family and friends, stay strong your doing great sending love to you both xxxx
Oh this is devastating. Sorry for such a loss
That was hard to watch, sending love ❤️❤️ to you both. Absolutely heartbreaking for you, it looked beautiful. Love you guys.
So sorry for this…..but Bee you look great……
I've only got one home …I'm not donating or subscribing. You two want to practice gratitude instead of crying and feeling sorry for yourselves. Heaven knows why you have mental health issues. You have a life of freedom and pleasure, travelling and doing what you like without restriction. I wish I could hop off to Canada for a holiday and all the other places you have visited.
You need house insurance to have a mortgage in many countries and this includes Portugal. Why aren't you claiming? Additionally, in the current economic environment, asking for financial support when people are using food banks and for millions in the UK it will be a choice of "eat or heat" this winter, do you honestly feel you should ask? This is a genuine question when you've advised; you own 3 homes and have an income stream from your many social media outlets and sponsors.
OMG that property. It was shown for sale on Youtube. It was beautiful. Well you have the house. Within a year a lot will be green again & the animals & birds will return.
Give your forest some time, in a few years it will regrow much. Indeed the infrastructure will need to be redone, and it’s a big property so that will be costly, it is why you should really look into insurance options for your properties. Especially in Portugal where these summer fires are well known to happen. Sorry that I cannot help financially but everything just got 20% more expensive in the last few months and I’ve got no reserves. Good luck! And I hope all will work out.
Asking for money! Your very selfish, there is worse off people. Sell a property you have plenty. This channel has changed for the worse.
Bad call you two. Left a very bad taste in my mouth. And the misleading headline and photo very poor choice. I actually thought you two were better than this. I have followed you for years and have watched your content and judgement go down hill for awhile. This is rock bottom. You show video of the village burning, homes and lives at risk and then have the balls to ask for money because a damn old dilapidated building had its roof burned off. WOW that took some balls. You should be ashamed! BYE!!!!!!!!!!!
Having gone through a bushfire here where I live 2 years ago, I really feel for you both. I do have good news for you about part of your forest, The Eucalypts will regrow or re-seed depending on which variety they are so please do not chop them down. I also would hold off on clearing the orchards to see if any will reshoot but the pines and other softwoods will most likely need to be felled. I wish you guys the best of luck and enjoy your sneaky new home. 🙂
💓
😭
So nice
So terribly sorry to hear this news. If anyone can love a place back to glory and beyond then it's you too fabulous people! Sending ❤️ xxx
This was so difficult to watch that I had to take breaks and only finished the following morning. I am so sad to have heard about the devastating loss, first on Instagram, as well as how much Bee has been suffering. Hang onto each other for strength, you are a marvellous young couple and I wish you well in all your endeavours. How you approach life on your videos bring a quietness to me.
Sorry to hear of your loss, hope you had taken out insurance cover.
The property will recover, in time.
Gimme,Gimme,Gimme
Bad taste to ask for cash
The house is intact
The woodland will grow back
Distressing but not an expensive fix
This video left me cold. I am sorry what happened and I realise you are probably still in shock, but guys, you need to get a grip on reality, no one died, no pets or livestock was killed AND your house is still intact. Your bush will rejuvenate. A lot of people have lost everything and do not have the choice of 2 other properties. What do you need donations for, your new projects, decor? I have watched your channel since you bought your first property in Portugal, thank you for sharing your barn conversion, have you completed it. Theo, you need to slow down a bit, you jump from one project to another. Well, I'm done. Your video disappointed. Good luck with your projects, I am positive you will overcome.
I feel very sorry that this has happened to you,it is so sad seeing the trees and shrubs all burnt,I do hope the wildlife was spared. You still have the beautiful house(and yes,I could feel through the phone screen that this house is special), in time you will rebuild and go forward, these things are there to try us. I feel completely Bee's mental health issues and agree with what she said as regards that,I have been and am going through a tough phase as regards my mental health,so I can empathise. You still have your dear little barn conversion ( I actually thought that would be your now forever home, I didn't realise you had plans to move on),all the animals are safe and so are you,I know you are both devastated but things will all come good in the end. You have each other and that counts for a lot. Love to you both.x
As someone who thought they suffered from depression/bipolar disorder for years, let me share the secret to whats really happening. Truth is you have what is called a spiritual tormentor and they wont quit lest you do something about it. The spirits of this world drive on sin and fear. The only way out is repentance and calling on the Lord Jesus for protection. Key fact is once you repent and call upon the holy spirit they will stand in between that which torments you and you must not sin. Listen it's a life changing thing, but ever since I have not needed antidepressants any more because God is all I need, as do you.
So sorry to hear of your loss, when the rains come every day after you will see new life in the ground,as it starts to grow. This will all take time, but while this is going on you will be kept busy ,too busy to be sad, I wish you all the best & love Elaine from Australia.
Insurance???
I feel so sorry for you both. You work so hard, you never talk negatively or nastily about anyone or anything, you lift our spirits when times are hard. I want to encourage you, you will survive this storm and build a beautiful place and your animals and you will prosper. 🥰x
You will b,e surprised how wonderful it will grow back. Have faith.
Unbelievable you are asking for donations when people have lost everything so sorry you have lost trees on your third property surely you should be donating to the people with nothing get real I for one will not be subscribing to this channel anymore
So sorry, devastating.
I’m so sorry for the loss of your new property but please remember that you weren’t there. You are alive and well. I just lost my son at 25. You both will survive this. The property will regrow. You are both okay. That’s something good.❤️
It’s devastating to hear and see what the fire did, but I’m happy your main house was spared. That makes me happy for you. All is not lost.
So sorry for what you have lost. I can only imagine how devastating it is. But, you and your animals are safe and you still have the main house. Land will recover. It is just the devastating disappointment of losing the head start you had with the infrastructure and orchards..but you can have that again within a couple of years. In the meantime you still have a lovely place to live and a good income. You guys have worked hard to get here and you have endured difficulties.. I know this is the result of initial shock and within a matter of a short time you will gain perspective again. Good luck!
