Since you are in the area, I suggest you do a show in Bayfield. It is a lovely town with lots of history.
Just imagine retiring as a registered nurse, using all your income/salary to pay rent and tax without any good investment or means of extra cash, tending to leave your profession/job that has been part of you for many years with no good funds. How will you cope?
I would be interested to know what you think of the medical facilities in Portugal should someone need to use them in an emergency?

Just freshly retired in the states here from UPS as a delivery driver of 40yrs. We live in Memphis, TN…hometown to Elvis' Graceland Mansion. Wife still works 2 days a week. Paid off house, no vehicle debt or Credit Card debt which was a key element for us. Enjoying it so far. Never sit around and just watch TV during the day..always keeping busy with something. I will be 59 in October. I amy see myself nabbing a small easy Part Time job in the future just for pocket money and stay involved around people. Working on now to see how to make our retirements account last us. Fortunate to also have a pension every month from UPS. Thanks for sharing.

Total agree about moving to a smaller community. After living Downtown Toronto for 16 years, I bought in Prince Edward County , it’s better than I ever imagined. With a great community moving there every year.

They ship salt by rail from Goderich to my city of Stratford (and many other place, I imagine). Due to the high mineral content of our water, everyone here has a water softener.
…in between patients tryin to kill me by not getting their jab/crybabies…and the lack of anything above the medulla oblongata in the culture as a whole..gives me “zero” hope of a safe retirement…that fantasy for me…
Wished the US had something like a TFSA.
Doesn’t it bother you paying rent? I rented a condo for a short period and it bothered me throwing my money away so I bought two condos. One pays me rent and one I live in free.
