Awesomely hilarious water pumping action, thanks for the huge laugh! One suggestion is that you install a valve in the system at the bottom between the pump and the pipe going to your water storage, it will allow you to disconnect the pump without losing all the water in the pipe and will keep the prime when you need to restart the pump after service. Might want to consider a bit of a manifold so that you can have both pumps ready to pump water and maybe an outlet at the bottom level for the future. Hope you can rig up some shade for the plants. UV effects plants like it does your skin. Surely your local mechanic can sort your pump out, i fix 2 stroke strimmers etc and its not to difficult. Good look.

I became a bit of an expert on the type of engine you have (Honda GX or equivalent) when I got bored over lockdown and bought a heap of non runners.
Have you checked the oil level in the engine? There is an oil level switch that works like a fail safe if the level is too low. It can also kick in if the engine is not perfectly level..

Id try the pump with the fuel cap off
