6.48 Kingsley Court stands out. It looks special yet I am informed that it is not all that old. But it does look Art Deco which is good enough for me.
I worked as a special needs teacher at 'Blackpool College' (Palatine Rd/Bennett Ave) in the early 80s. I imagined myself as Sidney Poitier in 'To Sir With Love'. I was a science graduate with great family support and was really appreciated by my peers and supervisors. I was on a temporary contract and lost my job and, I believe, my place was taken by a lady with a permanent contract who taught flower arranging….. I trained as an accountant…..
Whitegate Drive is 'up market'! Everything is relative I suppose.
Used to have many a fab holiday at the Lynalan Hotel on Palatine Road. Was run by a Scottish couple – Jean and Stan.
Hi Steven. Was wondering if Woodfield Rd. South Prom. Was still there..My nanna had a boarding house 🏠 no 23.. During 2nd world war…Many thanks Steve XX
You love going to the red light area steve 😆
I'm really enjoying your vlogs especially the one on mereside as I lived there till the early 90s on branstree Road keep em coming my good man.
my granddad had a gas shop on central drive in the late 60s right through the 70s before he died unexpectedly
Takes me some getting used to what are referred to as hotels over there would barely pass for a B&B here in the US.
It's a shame all the boarded up buildings, commercial and residential. I assume owners want outrageous amounts of rent for their places? That's the way it is where I live; landlords want to make a killing; if they can't get what they want, they'd rather let a place sit empty and fall apart than lower the rent. Doesn't make sense.
I'm walking with you Stephen! Your knowledgeable reports on dear old Blackpool just draw me in and are a total delight to watch. Keep em coming!
When the "posh" end looks like a dump, you know you have got a problem.
Crikey I don’t feel safe watching you walk around there let alone go there myself, what a grim place.
Wots the weather like
Always still try and stay in Palatine Road. Opposite the church many many years ago used to be a coach company. It’s the location of the Libra hotel now.
A group of eight of us stayed at a Guest house on Paletine Rd in early nineties called Dukes, we later called it The Pukes, ladies of the night were working day and night straight opposite us behind some garages.
i used to go to Blackpool back in the day with the lads from down south, did like going to the locals pubs in the backstreets, used to have a great time, but ive heard alot of them have now gone, it was never like it was now with all the B & Bs full of druggie scum, was gonna go a few years ago but couldnt because of illness, but do remember that 2 n in the Big Blue plus train fare from Reading, was the same price as 3 n in Berlin with flights in a 4star hotel. How times have changed
You can always tell when absent landlords take over. The area goes down hill.
i remember staying on palatine rd 1966 , i was in a scooter club (girls and boys) and me being the youngest at 16 after a few shandies the digs had a bedroom window that opened onto the bay window roof below, i was "robbed" of my clothes and pushed out there till i sobered up. happy days! great to see it again . thanks.
Hi Stephen, Hurrah I went to Palatine School as well. Started off behind the College on Palatine Rd then moved to St Annes Rd The College was always a College
You've got to love the channel name as there is absolutely nothing wild about this channel 😜 from a south shore resident
That takes me back a bit. I got married to my wonderful wife Ann at Christ Church with All Saints in 1989. We had thirty lovely years together until she passed away in 2020.

Stephen I've now watched many of you're vlogs & really enjoy them! & I'm sorry if you have mentioned this, have you always lived in Blackpool & that's why you're so knowledgeable about the area.? I've probably visited 5 times in my life, & all occasions loved it! I remember going to the Syndicate nightclub, possibly one of the best nightclubs I've ever been to! it was amazing with the revolving circular dance floor.. Anyway, keep it going mate, what's not to like 👍
I did the same walk in May 2019 when I visited Blackpool to research some of my family history. No 246 was in my family c1911 to 1939. I was quite impressed by the college building.
Attended Palatine Road College in early eighties,on a Vehicle Building Course organised by Duples Coach Builders.was in a building at the rear of the College in Ripon Road.Had my first ever KFC in Whitegate Drive, tasted far better than they do now, favourite Chip Shop was on Central Drive,at the top of Bethesda Drive, now long gone.Happy Times, area has gone downhill since.
I thought the only red light district of Blackpool was our favourite, Cookson Street? Any more you're not telling us about? 😂
Nice selection of litter at the posh end I noticed!
Hello Stephen
I'd like to give you a donation to help your channel of £20 pounds for you to treat yourself
Do I post it to you through crap letters or online donation
Can you let me know Stephen Thanks
Near the Art College was Courtfield Catering College. Looked like a big old mansion. Attended there in 1965. It was a nice area back in those days.
The school looked stunning they don't build them like that anymore.
I always enjoy watching your videos. I'm always looking to spot, past B&B's/Hotels, which I have stayed in over the years. I can't remember the names, let alone where they were. Watching your videos is a great way, of finding your way around Blackpool, researching which location is good to stop at for you personally.
If someone single was going to relocate to Blackpool what area would you recommend?
I'm in London my day's ain't been Blackpool for yeàrs that part look's nice cheer's
stayed in palatine road in the 80s … id rather sleep on the beach now … poor Blackpool they are trying to polish a turd .. get rid of the sleze and you might stand a chance of regaining some respect ..
Wow what a difference Stephen thanks for the journey

Interesting how a street can be so different from one end to the other. Some of those B&B or hotels look quite fine establishments others looked like they have had their day. Nice vlog as ever Stephen 👌
I think one of the things that would be great for Blackpool, would be to have it's own independent university that's successful in it's own right rather than a college operated in effect by Lancaster university. When I first moved upto Blackpool, I google map searched for sainsbury's and went to Sainsbury's Local on the main road at the end of Paletine road, and didn't know about the red light district section of paletine road, and asked why their was a ANPR camera sign at the central drive end, and that's when someone told me about the working girls. Let's just say I started giving it a wide birth as a result.
Great video as usual and Steve knows ever single red light area in Blackpool !!!!!!!!!!!!!
