Pears, Piglets & Kitty Love | My Central Portugal Farm #35

This week I relieved the pear trees of some of those pears and found someone that would enjoy them so gifted them all to a friend.

Visit Cindy’s Channel here:

Had a great time with Cindy, the dogs and her piggies who also happened to have piglets (get ready to fall in love!) and got a really awesome tour of her beautiful farm, Quinta do Bela Pedra (the beautiful stone!). I understand why it’s called Bela Pedra! It has the most stunning views and most epic granite boulders! 🙂

A long lost furry-friend returns to the farm and starts making himself a little more at home. It’s going to be baby steps getting the dogs used to not chasing the cat, but I really need a farm cat to chase those rats & mice away!

Enjoying the journey? Consider buying me a cup of coffee or a roof tile to help save up for the new roof 🙂

About Girl Meets Farm:
I’m Christine. I started this journey in search of my forever farm in Portugal, and now I have found it!

This is my adventure as a solo expat on a farm in Central Portugal with my two fur-kids, Shakti & Shiva.
I’ve never owned or lived on a farm, but moved to Portugal in the hope of fulfilling a life-long dream of finding open space, subsistence farming and a safer, better life.

Now that we have found our farm, the second stage of our journey begins!
I have to figure out farm life while renovating an agricultural structure to make it habitable and turn it into a comfortable home for me and my furkids.

Thank you for joining our journey!

  1. 💕That’s a fantastic way to get rid of excess produce & it helps someone else with there piggies as well💕Maybe in the future you could get your own piggies who could eat the fallen fruits putting them in electric fencing would allow you to move them around💕

  2. So lovely to see Tobias starting to make friends with you!
Now Shakti and Shiva will have to get used to having another 'furry friend' around.
Hopefully To bias will earn his food by keeping rats and mice at bay!
Those piggies of Cindy are huge and absolutely adorable. So cute that they are all named too.Glad you found a good outlet for your pears.
Her 2 dogs are as sweet and just too cute. Happy pups.
The telescopic fruit picker seems to have made life easier for you, especially in the difficult to reach places.
Happy you are making friends who are also able to share their experiences with you.
    Great going, Christine.

  3. Hi Christine, you have a new 4 legged friend Tobias will keep the pests away. Glad you found Cindy, you'll have a great knowledgeable friend.
It's nice to meet likeminded people. Stay safe and happy fruit picking.

  4. Christine thanks for sharing your experience with us. Do you really need to play the music in the video? For me would be so much nicer to just hear the natural sounds of nature and things like cat purring, and pigs snorting. Looking forward to your next video. Best wishes.

  5. Lovely to see you again Christine… and to see the animals at Cindy Vine as well. I'm so excited to go to your area in October, November…. looks so tranquile and beautiful there.
Cindy wrote to me that it's still quite 🔥 hot there.
How does you and the doggies cope with that?
Are you going offgrid? I'm an electrician for many years and have solar panels at my home. Regards Rickard from Sweden 🇸🇪

  6. Do you have fleas and ticks there? I have outdoor cats that showed up as kittens. I have to put a liquid on their backs to keep fleas and ticks off them in case they want to come into house or porch. I live in Virginia in the USA. If fleas infest the house it is a nightmare to get rid of them.

  7. Glad to see the kitty is friendly. Ofc we know Cindy and her pigs 😅, Nick and Andrea ( Project Portugal) have 3 of them too, so cute!
Great you have some new friends around you. Cheers!

  8. Catty & your dogs need tick/antiparacite collars (i.e. Scalibor)…I dont know if you've got them already. Give away all the fruit etc. you dont need for yourself. Neighbors, Cindy or compost it etc. Just dont let it go to waste. Also never waste water please. Tipping out the water that was in the wheelbarrow on the dirt would have made some plants happy in this drought. Please, this is not critique in any way, just my thoughts. Fond greetings from a fellow Capetonian living in Spain🌺

  9. so so cute to see Tobias come for pets and food..the poor thing! do you sometimes give him wet food (in case he doesn't get enough fluids? My cats are terrible for not drinking water)

  10. Hi Christine great to see you have a new friend, handy with those pesky mice knocking about. What are you going to do with all those pears, apart from giving them to the piggies. Tony UK x
