PERMACULTURE PROJECT – PART 4. SWALES IN THE FOOD FOREST?

Welcome to part 4 of our permaculture project series. Still, a bit to do on our large swale. Should we add swales to our food forest too?

Hi there 🙂 We’re Marc & Allys, a couple of left the UK in search of somewhere we could build a homestead, live more self sufficiently, off the grid and connect with nature. This led us to the beautiful Alentejo region in Portugal.

Follow us on our journey as we learn to live more self sufficiently and acquire new skills!

  1. There is also hugelkultur, where you find swales that involve little or no digging. Wet swales can be expensive and may make access to the land more complicated. Also with dry swales you can improve rocky terrain. Good luck-. Abraço.

  2. Nice to see some progress, the rocky ground need probably a different digging tool, well at least you know about it to better deal with it in future project, it is looking good keep up the hard work.thanks for sharing.
