A protester carrying a rainbow flag and wearing a ‘Save Ukraine’ T-shirt who invaded the pitch during Portugal’s World Cup group win over Uruguay on Monday says he has been released without any further action.

Mario Ferri, whose blue top had the Superman logo on the front and the words ‘Respect for Iranian Women’ on the back, entered the field of play during the second half.

Security officials chased Ferri – who describes himself as a footballer and influencer – before he dropped the flag on the field and was then escorted away.

The referee picked up the flag and left it on the sideline, where it stayed for a few moments before a worker came to collect it.

  1. He’s done this 5 times
    Italy v Netherlands – 2009
    Inter Milan v Mazembe – 2010
    USA vs Belgium – 2014
    Juventus vs Napoli – 2017
    Portugal v Uruguay – 2022
He has some history behind his pitch invading 😅

  2. Funny thing is the rainbow PACE flag in original form doesn't have crap to do with the Alphabet Soup Group who kind of hijacked it. IT was actually AN Italian antiwar peace flag from the 60s since PACE literally means PEACE…..

  3. Are you going to show the hero who invaded the pitch with Palestine flag? Maybe ethnic cleansing of Palestine and israeli apartheid is important human rights issue, isn't it, hypocrite west?!

  4. I’m surprised this isn’t his first time to do this. He did it back in 2014 World Cup in Brazil during the USA vs Belgium match. And did it again in 2017 during the Juventus vs Napoli match.
Wearing a Superman shirt was his trademark.

  5. Wonder why he didn't have Save Yemen.. respect for Chinese women and men. Rainbow flag said Pace…peace…not pride. The gay flag has blue omitted…like blue for boys is bad or something…or 6 instead of 7.😝

  6. Man why is this about lgbtq is like these people have some urged to let people know they are gay or they looking validations nobody give tow give if you gay or not that your life and preferences can we just enjoy the soccer or football game isn’t that what they World Cup about I’m sick off tired off this nonsense making the media over what’s really happening on the soccer field
