Maritime beach
Located on the mouth of Alcabrichel river, the Porto Novo Beach is located on the lower extent of a most beautiful valley incorporating slopes covered in rich, green vegetation covering remnants of pre-historic settlements. Historically a fishing port, this site also takes its place in the history books as the place where British troops disembarked prior to the Battle of Vimeiro, during the first Napoleonic invasion, in 1807.

Close by is the thermal spa resort of Vimeiro, which provides a complementary set of attractions including a golf course, an equestrian centre and a heated swimming pool.
