O Cabo Mondego is located on the Portuguese coast, so it is bathed by the Atlantic Ocean. It is located at the western tip of Serra da Boa Viagem, at a latitude of 40º 11′ 3” N and a longitude of 08º 54’34”W, 3 km north of the city of Figueira da Foz.
Sheer cut and with numerous cliffs, it has about forty meters of altitude. Next to it is the Cabo Mondego Lighthouse, fifteen meters high, intended to support maritime navigation. From a geological point of view, this cape has a high scientific value, as it is recognized worldwide.
It was classified as a Natural Monument, by Regulatory Decree no. promotion of environmental education.
