Portuguese People Revolt: Americans Please Go Home! by Our Retire Early Lifestyle! We’ve been sharing this problem for years! It was about 9 years ago when we first saw the effects of it in Cuenca Ecuador. Locals had to put ads in the local classifieds so they could find a locally priced rental home for their family. After 4 years of being named “best place” to live or retire, the place was unrecognizable, starting with double the cost of rent in just a few years!
Then around 2018, after being named “best place” to live a few times, Portugal enters the picture and we reported this very same issue with Portugal, making several videos about it. Now in 2022 it has gotten so out of hand in Portugal that the Portuguese are revolting in the streets. Now you heard it from someone else besides Frank and Angie. We bring this report in peace.

Texas here, we have had a flood of California and NY move here treating this place as a bargain bin and now with the greed have been driving out middle and lower class income Texans who were once able to afford the cost of living. Homelessness is increasing.
The same thing is happening in Victoria, BC. The whole island is being bought out by rich globalists … about 85% Asian … 15% other countries (Russia … Middle East … etc). Locals have been pushed out. Houses worth $0.5 million eight years ago are now worth $12 million. Shocking.

Happening all over the world. Higher income people moving into lower income countries, driving up prices, pissing off locals. Might suggest things aren't so good anymore in US anymore. Particularly with respect to taxes, screwy laws and woke culture imho. Appreciate the video. Cheers

See that is the problem with California Commies. They hat their problem, refuse to see they made them. And then migrate the Commie problems wherever they go. I say do what you must Ecuador to keep your country safe.
This sort of thing has been happening for thousands of years all over the world.
People from up north and the west cost have been moving to Florida and driving up the prices as well.
One can't blame business owners and landlords for taking advantage of increasing their profits. It just becomes an issue when it turns into price gouging.
You made a great point about when expats create their little bubbles and don't merge with the local population.
Even in the wording of expats instead of immigrants it fosters, more of a temporary transient mentality.
Unfortunately sections that were once affordable for the average Portuguese person, are not. How are these individuals affected, looking to improve their own economic situations?

California is also moving to Vermont in record numbers! Why? I am not sure! The Portuguese people are getting tired of people with more money than brains ruining their country!
Laws that restrict immigration and are enforced prevent gentrification. Some countries have strict laws that allow few immigrants into the country.
It’s gotten so bad everywhere , that is where everyone seems to want to go or advertised, heck even Mexico that live and want to go, is looking expensive. Have you had a chance to speak to locals there in Mexico and get their feedback on this…?
Being Portuguese and living in California, I totally understand the reason for leaving this democrat run state that’s being ruined by the high cost of living and crime. Portugal is looking good that’s my birth country and I still have a Portuguese passport so I’m looking forward to spending time there hopefully in the near future.
