It’s the 1980s and Pie is a frustrated graffiti artist hoping to make it big like his idol Jean-Michel Basquiat. JJ is a punk rock lover struggling to fit in at his new school in Brooklyn. The boys stumble into an unlikely friendship, swapping notes about their love of art and music. A dual narrative story told in verse, exploring topics of immigration, mental health, family, and racism, Moonwalking examines class, cross-racial friendships, and two boys’ search for belonging.
