This week we finally got blessed with some much needed rain. The rain really helped bring back life to the garden. The garden is starting to change, just like the seasons. I’m so excited to experience all the seasons here in Portugal. We picked some of the first walnuts from the trees. We also are taking down the wall in the front, to open up the space.

My name is Debora and I moved to Portugal to start a new life. My sister and I bought an abandoned piece of land with a cottage and a barn on it. Our plan is to restore the farm and convert the barn into a home.

We’re nursing the land back to life after it has been neglected for so long. We left the city to live a more meaningful and simple life more in tune with nature. Being Spanish and Portuguese and moving here to Portugal, the land of my ancestors, has felt like finally coming home.

We’re trying to be more self-sufficient and trying to go off-grid as much as possible. Follow us along on our journey as we clear the land, renovate the house and barn, start a garden in the future and do many other projects.
