Rain Is Finally Here and We’ve Got No Roof On Our Portuguese Reno House…Oops #53

We new we couldn’t beat the rain so will have to soak it up (pun pun) and hope it won’t do too much damage. The only way to tackle this is to not panic and as soon as we’re back to blue skies, get it sorted. We have a lot riding on this project and staying calm and focused is the only way to move forward. When the blue skies grace us again here in Portugal/the Algarve, we must move forward and start seeing results. We have everything crossed right now and with such a tight budget (all our eggs in one basket), we have to make this work. Thanks for watching and if you would like to help out towards me being able to continue making these vids, please go to the about section on my home page were you will find a link to Paypal and Patreon. 1. Time to get an electric car mate. Dacia makes a cheapish SUV. Basically you pay all your fuel up front… save money over time. And you can charge it up with 5 or so solar panels.

  2. Those tiles came off easily revealing a nice brick floor underneath. Wow. !0,000 Subs already, Andy. That came quickly, didn't it. Love that rain. It's going to be great getting the roof on. Here's to it, then.

  3. If you continue to renovate buildings (and we all hope you do) then you might consider getting some place where you really can store building materials and collect second hand things. The way things are going reusing materials is going to be the future of construction and renovating everywhere, even here in Switzerland. Yet still lots of materials get kicked to the curb simply because there is not enough space to store them.

  4. Oh wow yet again you just hit the spot ! Love your positivity and I’m almost tempted to get my house on the market now so I’m in a position to offer on that place when it’s finished as your attention to detail in the work you do makes you THE guys to buy a house from happy in the knowledge no nasty surprises. I keep my videos as little gems of inspiration to help me get through finishing this place off as a solo project this time I may have bitten off a tad too much 🤣🤣🤷‍♀️ but I’m getting there. Thanks. Fiona

  5. HI ANDY, WOULD PLAN ON HAVING SKETCHES OR A BLUE PRINT OF THE HOUSES SHOWN? THIS WILL GIVES US A BETTER IDEA OF THE OVERALL WORK YOU'RE DOING THERE. IT'S BEEN FUN TO WATCH. KEEP IT UP MATE.

  7. Hi Andy it’s a lot of work at the house I think it will look great with that bread oven, the rain will keep the dust down everywhere don’t know where you get all your energy to do all this work, glad you put a cover over Pedro it will last longer away from the rain.

  8. And we all know Andrew doesn’t like mess but he loves ‘sorting stuff out!’ You are nailing these videos mate, quality work and love the music. Nice find under the tiles, they will come up nicely with a bloody good polish.

  9. Hoorah for lovely rain! Seems like plastic water tanks will be good investment. Placed at corners of farm home roof with downpipe into top will fill them up quickly. Dark cream or green coloured ones were the in thing to install on properties in Cape Town during our recent drought. Creepers were planted to grow up around fix to wires or trellises. Just a thought …such a lot of work to remove old grouting inbtw stones. Have you considered lime washing them white instead? One uses a long bristle large brush to slap it on…easy! Lovely light, clean, white, breathable fresh look for that area. Have a look for images on Google. Take care!

  10. Hi from Australia, I am watching your videos with great interest, having myself a little holidays place in Alentejo, I renovated this place with great pleasure with typical portuguese features. Thank you for your very positive and hard working videos. Cheers.😊
