Renovating a Ruin in Central Portugal / Installing a ceiling

This week the ceiling goes up and more work is done on the cordwood wall. It’s hard to believe that a year ago this kitchen was just a couple of ruined, crumbling walls.

  1. Pleasure to help you Cindy,
As you know, so I think your viewers should know, nobody who volunteers work on your farm gets paid, or does the work for financial gain, ok a few exchanges of services happens but that's more good will gesture s than anything else. I personally offer my help to people because they need it and I can provide it, just makes me feel happy inside😁

  2. I think it is so kind and supportive that you acknowledge Nick's ongoing help as has The Indie Projects. I wish others he has helped did that. He has helped so many people who need to own the extent of his help.

  3. Cindy why do you not listen to the excellent advice you have been given? You constantly waste your hard earned money buying inadequate / inappropriate products? Which then take up so much more time and effort? I don’t understand why you did not buy what Mick recommended for your kitchen insulation? By not listening you made a job that could have been done in a day too one that took up 2-3 days.
This is a constantly happening on your farm = poor fencing for pigs ( redone 4 times), water storage = 4 times, hours trying to do cord wood, hours cutting bottles. Cindy it’s time for you to listen & take best advice from people who are genuinely trying to help you & stop wasting your money & peoples time.

  4. Lovely to see neighbours helping each other. It is very evident that Nick cares a lot about Cindy ( jokes apart) and Cindy knows exactly what to cook to give Nick and Morten a treat. Lucky to have have such a community around you.

  5. It looks more like a home every week❤️ I thought the Hilti/ryobi comparison’s very funny, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for Nick getting giveaways from Hilti 🤞 your grandson is beautiful and all that hair🥳😍

  6. You are amazing , and it's so good to see people helping each other. I hope the rain doesn't ruin anything in the kitchen and the work, because it's going to rain a lot. Cindy take good advantage of rainwater and collect the most you can. 💙

  7. Dearest Cindy, it is your beautiful and sweet nature that makes it so easy for volunteers to be around you to help!! Nick is great it is amazing that you make him treats, Morten is so helpful and fun!! 😀

  8. Hey, pole dancer💃🏼! I think you have lost HALF of you since you moved to Portugal, for real! And your rooibos cake looked the bomb🤤😋 — tho you were nearly put under the ladder, i think Nick and Morten know how much you appreciate them 💗. Love that snapshot of your little doppelganger. Cordwood walling coming along nicely👍🏼.

  9. Well done on the cordwood, ceiling and door. Nick and Morton are both treasures. You are truly blessed, and a quick peak at your grandson always brings a smile. You are living a dream. I know it's hard work, but there are so many benefits to that. Have a great week.

  10. Wow, so nice to see the Kitchen cleared of odds and bobs and folks sitting around the table having a cuppa and a chat, while Thandi follows up with cleaning un the dropped bits of cake that fell on the floor ! sweet no place like home! it is transforming before our eyes! thank you for sharing your journey, and Im glad the plumber made your life easier. much love, Annmarie

  11. Wow you are really getting on well. Getting so much done ready for the winter weather. It’s lovely to see what a lovely community spirit you all have helping each other. A real blessing.
Hopefully you will get some rain soon. In southern England we have had a water shortage but are now getting some. Thankfully.
