Renovating a Ruin in Central Portugal Jazzing up a Metal Door

Steve finishes the big change to the metal door to the cottage, and I jazz it up with a new coat of paint on the exterior.

  1. Your door looks great. I think a lighter oil or varnish looks good & like others have said makes the room lighter. Your preference is more important though. Can't wait to see your bathroom closed in. Winter is coming. I'm glad you have a good source of income, plus it keeps the brain young!

  2. HELLO CINDY…I WOULD EITHER LINSEED OIL IT OR STAIN IT DARKER…YOU MIGHT STAIN IT A GREY COLOR TO GO WITH THE GRANITE STONE INTERIOR…I LOVE THAT YOU ARE KEEPING THE METAL DOOR & I LIKE THAT GLASS INSERT…IT'S YOUR DOOR, BLUE IS NOT MY BAG!…ALL THE BEST…🙏🏻;)

  3. I don’t understand what your job is. Do you teach a subject or are you an educational consultant? Also, curious about the window you have that looks into the kitchen. Is it a clear window or did you block it? Love your shows, you are an inspiration to me.

  4. Hi Cindy, your doing a great job, look how much you have achieved. You should be proud of yourself. Your so fortunate that you've got a good support group and such nice volunteers. Slow but sure steady pace and you'll get there.

I'm retiring hopefully next year and I'd love to come and help you . I'm sure others would come too if you need help. There are more good and kind people in this world than we think 🤔 and you're volunteers a testament to that. 🙏

Anyway don't feel down hearted your doing great…and looking great!!

    All the best.

  5. Oh wow! Love the insulated door, thanks Steve. I'm excitedly looking forward to the bottle wall- loads of beautiful light. Any chance of a clear 'window' section, to capture the view? Well done you, working on the farm, with so little time, during teaching breaks. Yip, the juggler 🤗🥰

  6. Love the blue door. As a retired teacher from 49 years in private schools in Louisiana, I am very interested in your “retirement “ job. Are you a consultant, a coach, or perhaps an evaluator? At 77 I’m not interested in going back to work, but I think the life you have made is remarkable.

  7. The wood on the door looks good, Cindy! Definitely a second or even a third coat me thinks!?! Let’s hope it’s a better paint than the Dulux I used to decorate my front room- four coats! Ahhhhh😂
Have a good week! Laura 🐶🐶🌸
