One of your best videos ever. You seemed to really be in your element on this. You really flowed along with tour. You made the comment, you are sometimes lazy. You do more than many I bet. You both have a dream, don't wait for someone to tell you what to do. You are a great example of independence and perseverance. Keep up the great work and hope hand improves. Enjoyed cabin and enjoy this too. What next Mayor of Dayton?
Dude!! The transformation from when you first got the building is incredible!!! Great job!!!! 😁🌲
Honestly man, you have made some massive progress on that building! Keep plugging away. That financially free lifestyle is going to be huge!
Great work. So cool to see the progress. Very jealous of that shop.
I'll have to start calling you George Nash. He is the author of a book called Renovating Old Houses. You probably know of it. Did you sell your cabin in Maine? Or plan on working in Dayton and vacationing in Maine? None of my business really but nonetheless I thought I would ask anyway.
Great progress…that is one big building,🏴
You have to buy back your own property that was stolen? What?
Thanks for letting your viewers know what you are intolerant of. See ya…
Like you, I was born in one state
, NYC, and raised in the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts (Cape Cod). Now, after listening to all the “code” hoops you had to jump through it makes one wonder why you left Tennessee. 🤔 Love what you’re doing with that building, always wanted to do something like that myself.
Your wood art is so beautiful… God's blessing to you and your wife on this journey. I'm excited to see the progress on this project.
Such a great looking building and project, in a fun area! Well done sir.
You're right, Dayton is a great area to be around and call home. I am in the NW corner of Clinton County, about 30 miles away. I'm proud to be an Ohio native.
Keep up the great work! I enjoy your channel and following the progress on all of your projects. I really liked doing building and remodeling but happily retired. I look forward to visiting your store!
Great progress.
There is a sander with a vacuum attached. Cuts down on dust a lot.
Just keep nipping away at it. You’re getting there!
you are doing a nice job. great plan and am looking forward to seeing more videos.
I've watched you build the cabin, so I know the craftsmanship will be excellent in the building, too.
I don't know why you felt the need to shit on Massachusetts, but I've seen enough.
Top Notch Sir!
Such a massive project and all those inspections. I am glad that you passed them all. What a good idea taking on that building. I wish you and your wife a lot of success in this new venture you are both taking. After watching the cabin build, I came here to watch you too.
oh my gosh dying over the Ohio shirt hahahahahahahahahah! I'm from Iowa originally and every time I tell someone that they say oh yeah they grow potatoes there right and my answer is always yes…. Aloha! 🤙🏼
So the thief gets the money from the pawn shop for the goods he stole, you have to pay the pawn shop to get your stuff back. That's real.racket
Hope you start to feel better soon , the building looks really great, you have done so much in it already, awesome job 👌! Thanks for sharing a really nice video 📹! 😊👍💕💕💕
Balloon frame construction ? Did you do the fire blocks on the vertical studs on the exterior of the structure between the main and upper level? Love the Dayton area, was a second home in my early youth. Originally from CBus, do miss the Buckeye state.
It's looking fantastic and the change of lifestyle will give you so much less stress you both can hang out at the cabin as well. It's a win win situation. Having the income from renting out the other unit is a good move. 👍 hope you elbows are feeling ok now . Sending love to you and Sarah from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤ ♥
What did you mean when you said, "The people's republic of Massachusetts?"
Mike, great plan, looks nice and the ideas run well keep it coming.
As much as I just can't understand your perfectionism and all those superfluous details on the cabin (I mean, it's just friggin' cabin in the woods, innit??) I admire your work on this old building. Great job, Mike!
Over 30 years ago, I re-did a bathroom in our house. Didn't do reinforcement for grab bars. Wish I did. Sounds like you plan on being in this location a long time. Great update and a great job on a massive project. Hello from the North Coast of Ohio.
Please explain this to a foreigner. Why you say "Ohio" to Iowa?
Wow got to love Daytona Ohio I can rob you and then if you want your stuff back you got to buy it back from me !! That sounds like a really nice place to live !! I guess the utility company can team up with the pawn shops and really stick it up your butt !! I wonder if the mayor has a sister / brother ? / IT ?who's the mayor of Chicago !!
note to self. never tell the government you are trying to fix your house.
Hold on… what happened to the "But wait! There's more!" part of your SimpliSafe ad? Also, I can't believe the police don't make the pawn shop owners track the people they buy the goods from.
Absolutely freaking fascinating video!!! While I LOVE your cabin build series, this building renovation video series is great! I wish I had documented the renovation my wife and I did on our Victorian home years ago as your efforts on both of your properties makes me want to find yet another rehab project to abuse ourselves on lol Your fans and subscribers Holden and Michele from Amish’land (Lancaster/Lititz) Pennsylvania USA 🇺🇸 The birthplace of American Horological Traditions (and of course, Amish farming lol)
I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one to say "The People's Republic of Massachusetts"! 😆 It's the reason why I'm in NH. However we are looking at moving to OH in 3yrs.
I learned long ago I am so slow at taping sheet rock and not that good it was better for me to hire a good taper.
Great video. I’m obviously used to the cabin videos but this was great. I did make a deragatory comment in one of those videos but am not proud of that so if you recognize my name in association with that – sorry. Anyway lots of work at two locations. You seem to be more at ease making the videos. My kitchen and bathroom have that “Mud” treatment (from the 60s) and my electrical conduit is embedded in part of it. It was interesting to see it done but I can see why it might be controversial.
GOD BLESS you with your dream everything looks absolutely amazing.
The building is shaping up nice Mike.
I can tell you from experience that mud based shower floors suck. Especially with small tiles. If you weigh over 100 pounds and use it, you will get indentations, uneven shower floors, and puddles, and grout cracks, and mold….
"People's Republic of MA" – 😂😂
No need to be apologetic about showing the work you are doing in your "new" old building. Many of us who have enjoyed watching you build the cabin over the years (we started watching when you built the outdoor shower) are just as interested in watching you revive this great old building. I also like that you are able to appreciate the industrial-urban section of your city and the city as a whole.
Love the restore of your new shop Mike, I'm jealous. I wish my shop had that much room in it. Another great video, really enjoy it. Thanks for the hard work you put into them.
Great video Mike. The place is really coming along! I remember you saying in a previous video that the plan for the upstairs apartment was to AirBnB but like the new plan of making it your residence. Keep up the great work and looking forward to the next update
The basics is the fun stuff, to me. I get bored with yet another kitchen design but finding out about regulations and how that changes plans is more interesting. Have you considered talking to the inspectors about things like adding rockwool? Maybe UK inspectors are more flexible (or more knowledgeable) but they are willing to listen and advise as they consider it part of their job. Ace idea to help out the local rehab lads by offering paid employment, btw. Win-win whichever way you look at it.
Progress on your building looks amazing. What ever happened to the front of the building where the car caused structural damage? Blessings.
Peoples Republic of Massachusetts? lol
Man I totally thought your cabin was in Idaho.
Keep er lit pal, looking great. I hope the wheel chair accessibility is just forward planning and there are no serious health problems for your family.
Cheers, awesome building, which hit the new owner lotto getting the respect its history deserves. Right on
