On the face of football discussion: Most well rounded player my ass! I ain't never seen Messi making a perfectly timed slide tackle, I ain't never seen R9 intercepting a dangerous ball cutting through the defence, I've never even seen Neymar fighting off 2 defenders to get himself a goal. HH just say it, you like attacking midfielders and that's ok but not every kid growing up has to be forced into that mindset of if I'm not a midfielder I'm a subpar footballer. If I stick Messi at center back my team's gonna get destroyed! Teams having set roles doesn't mean football has been destroyed it's always been like this otherwise goalkeepers wouldn't exist. If Haaland gets stuck in midfield he's gonna struggle but the same is true if you put Messi as a target man, literally for every step over some flair playing striker is making, Haaland is scoring a goal, yes I love step overs but I love goals more. This is why there needs to be multiple faces of football, you can watch a game of football and see this attacker who everyone has been praising to high hell have a quiet game and then he gets criticized "Oh he's lost it, maybe he's not that good" but why isn't the defender who put him in the back pocket being praised? Football is not a one man sport but individual brilliance is indeed a thing, Messi dribbling through 5 players to score is the type of stuff that just can't be taught but the same is true for Haaland's ability to just keep on scoring or James ability to not be passed easily in 1v1s.

The Haaland discussion was very interesting and I agree with HH's perceptive. I have an appreciation for what the goalscoring skills Haaland possess but as fans, the primary thing we all want, is to be entertained. Guys like Messi, Neymar, Vini, Ronaldinho and so on, are players who are entertain us. Haaland is unfortunately not a very entertaining guy to watch play. We appreciate him but he doesn't bring the joy of watching football as the other guys I mentioned do.
