Relaxing walking tour of São Vicente de Fora, in Lisbon (Portugal), with detailed historical information and context. São Vicente de Fora is a small neighborhood, as well as a larger civil parish with the same name. The civil parish is home to numerous historical Lisbon neighborhoods, including part of Graça and Alfama neighborhoods.
In São Vicente you’ll find the São Vicente the Fora Monastery, one of Lisbon’s most important monuments, housing the royal pantheon of the House of Bragança, the longest-running royal dinasty in Portuguese history. It also houses the largest collection of Barroque ceramic tiles in the world.

Haven't had a chance to finish this video yet but I love São Vicente de Fora! The curvy, medieval streets, all the iron balconies, and the tile – especially that one place not far from the markets that you stopped and focused on. I'm in love with that one. Can't wait to get back to this and see the glorious azulejos inside the monastery. Thank you very much for this tour!

I never heard of this monastery, I am in awe, with everything this monastery has to offer. from ceramic tile panels to Portuguese royal family. rest assured, I will be visiting this monastery one day

This evoked such nostalgic memories of one of the best days we have spent in Lisbon, exploring The Pantheon and Sao Vincente ( its a treat to be near the bells when they ring out ) and lunch in the fenced park with Jacarandas in full bloom. We will definitely visit again and a little more knowledgeable. Your respect and deep regard for your history comes through as you linger in the rooms dedicated to those that have passed. Belas imagens, agora eu sei onde fica a feira da ladra. Quando estive pela última vez, pensei que a feira fosse na avenida da Liberdade. Outro lugar muito interessante que pretendo visitar, sem dúvida, é o Panteão da Casa de Bragança e do último túmulo de D. Pedro IV ( nosso imperador D. Pedro I do Brasil) antes de ser sepultado no monumento do Ipiranga. Grande abraço!

One of those parts of Lisbon that I've just passed through briefly on my way to other places (such as the Museu do Azulejo), so thanks for showing us a bit more. A few things here were already on my to-do list: the Museu de Agua, the Mercado de Santa Clara, the Panteão Nacional (not least for the grave of Amália Rodrigues), the São Vicente church and monastery…
(I also love the fact that the church is named after Saint Vincent, who is the patron saint of vignerons — as well as Lisbon, of course.)
