Central Portugal has a large number of these inland lakes they are man-made mostly due to Portugal’s eco-friendly policy of Hydro Electric power.
The fact that the rivers of central Portugal have been artificially turned into these lakes do not in any way detract from the beauty or leisure opportunities afforded by them.
There are of course a lot of real estate opportunities in central Portugal surrounding these lakeside areas and of course as the economy improves the larger of these developments will start to become interesting once again.
