Reverse engineering the water supply is the name of the game in this week’s episode.

We have water in the house and we have an outside tap.

We know where the water meter is and we’ve found a sliver of the pipe that brings the water into the house.

But there are a lot of unknowns and in this video we put our detective hats on (and grab some new heavy duty tools) and start digging up the concrete and marble crazy paving that surrounds our house in an effort to get some answers. When we know where the existing water feed is and how all the taps, manifolds and old gas boilers are fed we can start taking steps to remove the old and instate the new.

As usual, nothing goes to plan and we end up making all sorts of ridiculous mistakes so stick around and see what happens!

The Story So Far

My name’s Guy. My wife Kylie and I bought this abandoned stone farm building and ¾ acre of land in the autumn of 2020 and have been slowly (but surely) restoring it and bringing it back to its former glory. We’re doing a lot of the work ourselves – having tacked 3 previous property renovations in the UK DIY style – and we’re trying to use as many natural and eco friendly materials as possible while we build a semi-self-sufficient homestead.

We’ve spent a bit of time setting up a no-dig veg garden and building some temporary accommodation (a large tent on a large circular deck) so we can live on our land while we tackle the building project. Stay tuned to see what we get up to and follow our progress.
