Emese Fajk
Emese Fajk portrayed herself as a successful security specialist with throwaway money—enough money to place a 4.5 million dollar bid on a home. However, when the show went to cash the check, the truth was revealed: the money was never processed because the money never existed.

The Block
To understand how Fajk pulled off the scam, you should understand how The Block works. The Block is an Australian reality show competition that’s been around since 2003.

Bidding
As Season 16 ended, the houses went up for the usual auction, and the bidding commenced. Everything was panning out as expected. Competitors Sarah and George saw high bids ranging from $3.32 to $3.36 million until Mr. Wallis, the show’s staple buyer, won the auction with his notorious bid of $4,000,001.

MIA
Weeks after the finale, Channel 9 was still waiting for the money from Fajk. After realizing the money was never in the account, they knew something was amiss. They went looking for her to collect the money she owed for the home, but the only thing they found on Fajk was a trail of debt through multiple continents.

Fugitive’s Paradise
Fajk escaped to the island of Madeira and took up an entirely new life. Madeira is a stunning island at the top of a gigantic shield volcano with impeccable views.

Swipe Right
After a night of swiping on Tinder, Fajk came across Steve Silva, a crypto trader. The two hit it off, and they start dating. Silva was charmed by the woman who claimed to work for Apple and the United Nations.

More Scams
The Block wasn’t the first Scam Silva dug up. Fajk was quite familiar with using fake bank deposits to scam individuals. She was consistently accused of sending counterfeit statements in her past. She used the same tactic for her Block scam.

Confrontation
Enraged by all the dirt he found on his ex, Silva confronted Fajk through WhatsApp only to be blocked after warning her she was in deep trouble. Realizing he was out of options, Silva went to the police and reported his GoPro and diving watch stolen.

Her Side
To this day, Fajk maintains innocence. In a video she posted to her Instagram, Fajk provided her side of the story. She denied all allegations of scamming The Block’s producers and her landlord. She denied fleeing Australia to avoid her scandal.

  1. wait a minute isn't it the production teams due diligence to check the people's accounts before they enter the show and before they place a bid.. she's just following a suit cuz she know nobody's going to fact check he didn't even have to even get to this point now she in trouble for it

  2. Please excuse my ignorance, what is the exact scheme of her “scam” on that reality show other than didn’t pay for her winning bid? Did she stay in that house for a couple of months without paying for it?

  3. There was another recent series where one of the buyers was doing this huge insider trading scam that a smart person would have kept a low profile about, but he didn't. Probably one of the reasons why he got caught, the authorities notice when you pay cash for multi million dollar purchases.
