Sihanoukville / Snookiville was like a ghost town when I left by boat back in 1979. I was a first team to clear the city and worked at the seaport. The city was totally ruined from Pol Pot forces. Most of the old buildings were blown away before they left the city when Vietnamese troups took over the city. My boat landed in Panay Island, Philippines. I was thrown in jail for a few months there and then came to the US in 1981. Most of my family members died in dead camps from Pol Pot killing machine. I grew up in Phnom Penh in the 60s and I have returned to visit the country every year since my retirement. Enjoy your life and stay safe.
