Home Immigration Spain update live – A lot worse off

  1. Hi Stuart- sorry to have missed the live chat, so just catching up.
I want to demonstrate another penalty of Brexit. We own an apartment on the south coast and have been visiting Spain for more than 25 years. We have just booked to drive down with our three small dogs as we have done for many years.
We paid several hundreds pounds to obtain the required pet passports including rabies vaccination and follow up blood tests.
These passports are no longer accepted in the EU! And all dogs now require a ‘health check’ within ten days of travelling to Spain. I have just booked this with our usual vet in the U.K., to be told these will be at a whopping £450 for our dogs for a single return trip! All of this on top of the £650 on the ferry as we have to pay for a ‘special’ pet cabin!
An alternative is to take out a EU pet passport, but this can only be done in the EU. This is possible, but I am informed that a requirement will be further rabies vaccination (totally unnecessary as I have proof of there current protection level). – I am not keen on giving anyone, human or animal, more vaccinations unless necessary.
We consider our three little pooches (all 3 weigh approx 15Kg in total) to be members of our family and treat them as such – plus the fact that they love the Spanish lifestyle.
Do any of your followers have any advice?

  2. Agree, Segovia is a good place to visit. I visited when working on a dam just south at El Atazar for Madrid's water supply. One thing I remember is when looking at the mountain skyline it outlines the shape of a pregnant woman.
Regarding Madrid, I was told that it is the highest capital in Europe.

  3. Spanish government have sent the worse machine gun we had, very bad quality material, looks like a bad joke, you can imagine how it will be when in the middle of the battle the Ukranians start to have serious and frequent malfunctions on his material, those people will think seriously about all our relatives…

  4. Thursday 10th March mask discussion. On Thursday we have an Inter-territorial Council meeting with representatives from all of the health authorities of the autonomous communities in Zaragoza, and removal of masks is on the agenda to discuss within the framework of the new public health surveillance system,” he said.

  5. Hi Stu, can you point me in the right direction or website with the breakdown on what tax you pay in Spain in your 1st year? Been offered a position but for self employment

  6. I have heard on a couple Spain Tourism/Cultural Youtube channels that petty theft and pick pocketing has picked up substancially of late. Mostly in any tourism areas.
Relax on vacation but protect yourself.

  7. Hi Stu, these companies have no option but to close their operations in Russia, with the no fly zones in operation they cannot supply their operations. Sadly it’s the normal citizens who will suffer but the higher powers in Russia don’t care about such minor things. Thank you for keeping us all in the loop.

  8. Inditex= Zara, Pull & Bear, Massimo Dutti, Lefties, Berksha, Stradivarius… only 8% Inditex can stop its shops from making money. The situation would be very different if it were the Middle East or the Emirates!!!

  9. I’ve just got back from a few weeks in Pals and Begur on the Costa Brava. Cold but sunny and as beautiful as ever. Mask madness still applied for the fist few days but was then dropped in Catalonia. Most people recognise that masks make no difference and lockdowns were a total failure in just delaying the inevitable. The area is desperate for British (and French and Dutch) tourists so as soon as the crazy vax travel requirements are dropped the better.
