Spain Update Live – Airport chaos not over yet

A look at some of the main news stories in Spain and I will answer some of your comments. EasyJet pilots call strikes for August; big changes to Spanish immigration laws; second Monkeypox death in Spain; and heatwaves in Spain and Portugal continue.

  1. I enjoy your little chats but it seems to me you should perhaps think more carefully about the tone you use for different pieces of news. For example, reporting on deaths from (in this instance) the monkey pox, should be done on a different tone than the weather. Mind you, even regular newscasters often use the wrong tone. So, without being necessarily obsequious, if you concentrate a little more on the piece of news you are communicating, it will improve your show. Thank you

  2. Keeping safe in the heat is really simple. Apparently one of the biggest risks in extreme temperatures is low blood pressure. To balance that out, all I do is read a couple of BBC articles on diversity or their climate emergency and I am topped up nicely. 👍

  3. Stu, I hope the person who left the comment near the end, saying your answers were too long and repetitive, is pulling your leg.
He or she obviously has no idea about the amount of work and care you put into your daily videos and livestreams on our behalf.
Over 60k subscribers can't be wrong. That person can go and set up their own channel if they want to, and spend half their lives trying to help others.

  4. Hi stu did i just hear someone comment about your answers been too long? how rude. we listen to your vlog to find out what’s going on, don’t change your format. paul and angela from hull, uk.

  5. Yeah, sure, avoid the charges of the main Spanish banks by going exclusively online. But what happens when you need ready cash or get a problem that can be best solved by personal contact. As a client of one of the largest Spanish banks, La Caixa, I can be confident that even in some relatively remote locations throughout the country, Fornalutx, Mallorca, for instance, I can withdraw cash or speak to an actual person about a problem. To me, a frequent traveller, that's worth a lot. Compare my other account, exclusively online as I live In Catalonia, with a well known British bank. Needed a new pincode. Not possible to change it via ATM from Spain. Over one hour waiting on the phone for an answer only to be told a new one would be sent by mail. Average time UK to Spain for second class material: one month.

  6. Yes Stu, I agree, the UK press is and always has been very critical of Spain and always pointing out the negatives. Unfortunately there are a lot of people who take this onboard. It’s the arrogance which is sickening!

  7. If you are more than nine months=270 days out from your most recent booster you cannot enter 🇪🇸. I have three plus recently recovered from COVID= natural immunity. Am not going to get a fourth shot therefore no Spain for me this year; Very Ill-conceived rule and 🇪🇸 tourism will suffer.

  8. All the hype about the 85 euro a day rule for UK travellers to Spain is typical right wing press scaremongering bullshit. It has long been the case, before and after Brexit, that Schengen countries in the EU can insist that travellers prove theiy are bona fide tourists and not, for instance, entering the country to, for example, work illegally. (Australia, with one of the strictists of immigration policies, is particularly hot on this issue.) It doesn't mean families on their way to Benidorm or Port Adventura in Tarragona for a summer break will have to provide reams of accommodation and financial documentation on arrival. It does mean, as has always been the case, that passengers identified as suspicious might, emphasis on the might, be asked to demonstrate their entry credentials. Less of problem of course if you are an EU citizen. But then, in their wisdom, an electoral majority of Brits declared their wish to be regarded as third country nationals. You reap what you sow.

  9. Great channel, thank you. Looking to buy a vacation home in the Asturias region. Do you recommend waiting the housing market out a bit or is now a good time? -Miguel from San Jose CA.

  10. Hi Stuart, managed to watch some of the live show tonight for the first time👍 interesting topic with relation to banks. I have an account with sabadell and find that they charges are expensive, I'm a non-resident and pay my taxes, I generally have to pay through the bank, if I go for one of these online banking facilities, will I be able to pay my non-resident tax through that system? maybe a question for the community? keep up the good work mate all the best Steve from Wales🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
