  1. I've lived in Barcelona nearly 6 years, never had a peep of trouble but being born in Liverpool but raised in Dublin you get that 3rd eye street wise mentality, I can usually sense something pretty quickly. It's sad the city is getting this type of rep but its a city of 2 million people I doubt it's any different in London or Paris tbh.

  2. Comparing Barcelona to the Bronx was risky. I won’t let my love for Barcelona boss this comment: although y crime is on the rise, I’ve been here a few days and I have asked many people how they feel and it is about the same when I was living here. Not unsafe but things happen if you relax way too much. Ada Colau has failed to improve or control this. Mossos and GUB have no incentive to improve this. I’d pay them a bonus each month for every 1% drop in crime rate.

  3. You really need to be able to charge at home overnight for EVs to be a practical alternative to gas. With most living in pisos I dont see how this can be a viable option for most of the Spanish population. At a minimum if you own a parking spot garages would need to be fitted with personal chargers so that people other than single family home owners can charge overnight.

  4. While Spain is not an EU net contributor, its also ever so slightly on the edge of being one, so the idea that German tax payers pay some kind of significant amount to Spain is laughable and I don't understand where this idea comes from that Spain is a drag on the EU budget and on the bring of financial collapse.

  5. Charlie from Miami whose daughter is living in Poblenou
It is a fact that in Barcelona, even though a beautiful world class city, the crime rate is the highest in Spain. But please put it in perspective. In the Bronx, you get killed not just robbed. The murder rate is significantly lower and one of the lowest in Europe.

  6. I live in Barcelona. I take usual city living precautions but so far I have not had any encounters like this one. But any crime incident is one too many, I think the laws do need to change to make crimes under 400 euros more serious, Also young men on those e scooters make it easy for criminal types to snatch bags and purses. Take precautions though and don’t make yourself a victim and that would be true in Barcelona, Denver, Madrid, San Francisco or London. Lawmakers in Barcelona and in the region need to update laws to allow the police to go after some of these criminals that know they can walk for under 400 euros.

  7. Hi Stuart, weather nice last few days here in Stamford,, UK. haven't commented in a while but always listen in still. Shame I struggle to catch the live show but watch it later, but keep it up and thanks for your time you spend on the videos.

  8. Evening stu…,I am sure crime is rife in major cities like Barcelona bit the story of a woman being attacked on the Digaonal is unreal as there is a cycle / walk path .a walk way and dual carrige way which is so busy if you move more than 10 km ph your lucky so as for being mugged I doubt it 😓😓

  9. I’m not sure about those figures re crime in Barcelona. Because of medical issues l have to go to Barcelona Clinic practically every week on the train and then take a cab. I have never felt scared or threatened in any of my travels..it’s like all big cities..very busy so of course you have to be on your guard. Greetings from Empuriabrava, the Venice of Spain, you ought to come visit Stu…you’d love it this side.

  10. Barcelona is like Disneyland for criminals from all over the world.
I've never witnessed the level uneasyness of people walking in the streets and traveling through the metro system as in any other city in the world that I have been to.
There has been a recent spate of stabbings also.
Spent 4 weeks in Mexico city recently and I can easily say that it feels much safer than Barcelona.

You could call it paranoia but those fears are real.

  11. My beloved Spaniards, DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT allow your government to privatize any of your social programs. That is the beginning of the end. No matter how pretty a picture they paint, DON'T FALL FOR IT. Privatization is a SCAM! Everything wrong with the USA is because of the privatizing of social programs like Healthcare (which is an abject disaster), to prisons to toll roads. It gets worse every day! Don't let them do that to Spain!
