Sri Lanka is introducing Golden Visa or Residency by Investment program!
This country is currently facing lots of difficulties and is in a tight spot, so they’ve decided to attract foreign investors to the country via a residency by investment program.

There will be 2 options available – a 5 and 10-year visa.

In order to obtain a 5-year residency, you will need to buy a property in Sri Lanka for at least $75 000. For 10 year residency, you’ll need to deposit $100 000 USD in a local bank and keep this deposit in the country for the entire period of 10 years.

Who are we and what do we do?

  1. Thanks Michael for another great video! I would definitely consider Sri Lanka. However, one aspect I wish more people like you would cover is aligned to some sort of "freedom index" … i.e., the governments of the world that were most restrictive during the plandemic — those that imposed mask mandates, vaccine mandates, and govts that relied heavily on lockdowns to control their citizenry. I would also like more videos from you on places off the beaten track like Mauritius' RBI and CBI as well as Seychelles RBI, Philippines Business Visa and Cambodia's CBI — all four of those places I'd consider if they ranked high on a "freedom index" as well as countries that don't tax crypto trading or gains.

  2. Sri Lanka suffers from socialist governments. It needs the Sri Lankan equivalent of Lee Kuan Yew. The people are great, as is the country. It has a prosperous future but until they get their politics sorted, nothing will change. If you’ve got a long time frame, 5 – 10yrs, then it is an opportunity to look into.

  3. Don’t go there. It’s a lovely country with lovely people. But it’s another Zimbabwe and Rawanda in the making. One has to be stupid beyond cure to invest money in Sri Lanka today

  4. Yeah, if they're not going to provide an easy road to citizenship, I don't see the point. MAYBE if their banks could be counted on to refrain from reporting bank accounts to the US government there would be some merit to getting residency; but all-in-all, it doesn't seem like a great use of capital.

  5. Montengro. Having done other videos from/about there. It was time to create a tax deducion and update your knowledge by doing some traveling. Good on you.
