This week has made a massive change to the house. It feels fantastic to see our design taking shape and finally see something going up that’s permanent and nonstructural. In this video, you’ll see us install wood cladding on 2 1/2 sides of our dream house. 23 weeks ago we bought an abandoned farm in Tras-os-montes, North Portugal and we’re building our dream place with a public garden, an ice creme kiosk, and a tiny house.

We left the Rat trace for a simple life in North Portugal. And this is a slice of our dream and a new simple life.

  8. FABULOUS ! FABULOUS! Hello Sindy and Dan. The exterior walls look absolutely beautiful. Dan what a great craftsman you are. You made the work look easy but of course it is not. Skill, patience and years of hard work has made you that craftsman you are. In my mind I was expecting the boards to go horizontal but seeing them vertical is so much better than i could have ever imagined. Sindy I was so wishing that i was sitting with you oiling those boards and having a chat (ah well that is dreams !!) Sindy that looked like hard work, levelling the area for the water tank. (some big rocks) So glad the weather was somewhat cooler for you to work in. Now to the boyz , Gruff you looked very handsome in your coat. Mason I see you had Tony over for a play date, well done ! Also Mason i see you were very busy supervising " Mum and Dad" whilst they were working .Hope you had a lovely day out and a nice lunch somewhere.

  13. "Devils birds of Satan" lol. I had no idea how delayed these videos were but it does make me happy to know how many more will be in the pipeline. Watching your videos are everything to me as this is how it should be done. You both bring much needed sanity to this crazy world we live in. Love you both and can't wait to meet you in person.

  25. Really like the cladding decision you made, a smart move and looks so good. Hope you will be able to get more linseed oil too. Have you ordered the windows yet? Loving the wood cladding, pity about the Linseed oil stock but, may be time for a cross counntry trip to central Portugal to Castelo Branco to Maxmat, they may have stock my husband wants your partner to build us a house 🤣🤣🤣 we enjoy watching your dream come alive, the Wi-Fi might be solved by purchasing Elon Musk Star link dish it app works even in the worst reception areas…📡🏠

That can't have been during the last few weeks." 😁I hope you somehow managed to work (and stay sane and safe) during the heat and will meet your move in goals.

I like the varied content because you’re not just building a house, you are building a future which includes sourcing your water, taking care of electrical needs, growing food, taking care of animals, even interacting with neighbors and much more.
