Every year Strava releases some statistics about how we cycle, and this year they’ve discovered that the secret to riding further and faster could actually be riding in groups. Dan and Si delve into the stats, and discuss their thoughts on the results, plus all the usual GCN Show segments!

Would love to hear some information regarding proscription cycling glasses, right now I'm either using my normal glasses which are wider than normal ones or some hacks but otherwise, nothing official that I could find (closes would be some clips from schimano) in my country and the likes of Oakley I would need to import in EU, would be fine with their price but add the tax to it and it becomes a tad too much for a pair of -3 on both eyes.
The clock looked like it was made out of a motorcycle rear sprocket maybe…
Any chance to purchase the sweatshirts you're in…?
ZA..If 3 minutes is key to winning races, or all they want, why not just have 3 minute finalists? So what you are saying is the fix was in!! Makes little sense otherwise and Canyon/Sram's image takes a massive hit?? The dude said the QOM, over pros, wasn't good enough…guess he didn't get the memo.
The Zwift academy controversy raises important questions for GCN as a channel.
Are you a legitimate channel with journalistic integrity, or a sponsored show with no views of your own?
Do you want lots of one off views for your videos, or long term fans who seek quality and integrity?
Do GCN, Zwift and two pro teams prioritise publicity of academy and lead up to the final over the negative publicity and damage to their brands by association of the final itself?
Do the teams and GCN understand that fairness of the process, outcome (is it really a pro team contract?) and reasons are all equally important to finalists, participants, team fans and viewers?
Unfortunately without answers, a lot of people have a sour taste in their mouths after #chiaragate
Got an e-bike a couple of years ago to ditch the car as much as I could. My commute is respectably hard, with routes of 11 to 14 kms and climbs rating at '2' on Strava, which is why I only did it every other day 'analogue style' when I was younger… and if I lost motivation it took a while to get it back. Now I rcommute nearly every day… except for gale force winds… being blown into cars or off sides of hills is not my thing. So, do e'bikes get people riding – hell yeah.
2:24 Roundabout: Total waste of money. Sack the designer of this danger to both cyclists and pedestrians. A traditional crossing with 3m/10ft wide paths would be better. Make distinct cycle | walk paths straight ahead. The pedestrians on image 2 are in the right and expected spot, but the cycle path should be to the left of them. The cyclepath around the island is only 1 person wide, which eliminates any flexibility to pass and turn safely ; you can ride straight ahead, up and down the island ; pedestrians from and to the right are forced to walk along or cross the cycle path ; etcetera. Does the designer only drive a car?
Not convinced with the explanation. Have a look at Chiara’s Zwift power profile and this GCN video on what does it take to be a professional cyclist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AqooXUIZh58 and tell me where im going wrong.
No one coming on the piste then!
Unacceptable explanation for Chiara snub. Frankly I didn't notice Alex at all in the series. I could only see Chiara, by far. Nothing against Alex but the way she nearly had a respiratory arrest at the top of the last climb looked very worrying to me. And I also think Luca looked better than Alex Bogna last seasons winner but wasn't offered a World Tour contract. I suppose what do I, and many here, know.
Should have a Christmas tree in the background
Caption: "It soured their joy of cycling, the UCI not allowing them to bring snowmobiles to a bike race."
Dan, welcome home. We've missed you.
Your embarrassing explanation as to why Chiara was not picked was so weak, it is a travesty. You both should be ashamed.
Hose clamp… Who hasn't got a couple of spare seat clamps to hand!
#captioncompetition “who invited Si?”
#captioncompetition Whose idea was it to visit Antarctica for the first ever Poel to Pole race?
I'm a bit surprised you don't seem to have mentioned that Brompton just produced their 1 millionth bike. I know it's a long way short of Model T or VW Beetle numbers, but it is still a significant milestone. Perhaps your next bikepacking trip could be on a folding bike.
Chiara deserved her chance and we all know this. Those 'pro judges' also forgot about one thing – pro team is not only about winning races, it's also about promoting their sponsors, and Chiara has a huge potential to attract many fans on her side. Especially women, who just raised their kids in late thirties and they are starting to think about fullfilling their dreams, that they had to put aside. Such a nice example to follow and nice personality as well. Imagine her riding Giro as an Italian or even winning some race or stage – that could be the cycling story of the decade, that would bring in more followers, than the rest of the team can ever manage.

My wife made the observation the other day that as I have not been out on the bike for a few weeks work ice and real life etc, I had not been watching GCN as much, is there a link between riding and watching ???
First time I got a Hack/Bodge in the show 🎉🎉😊
Like I said before: The whole thing is a predetermined scam. They knew they wanted Alex before the thing happened. I'm not paying anymore attention to this scam event unless an independent committee awards a winner. Leave the team personnel out of it.
GG = good game, in l33t gamer speak parlance.
‘Why so serious?’ ….. you ride a bike for a living….lol!

What's up with the sound on the Dante Young trailer? Have you lost one channel or removed the soundtrack? Either way, not cool!
With regard to Prescription cycling glasses, I decided I needed Direct glazed, bifocal and photochromic, struggled to find any in that combination ( plenty of varifocal) until I found recommendations for Optilabs in Croydon. Loved my new glasses and the company so much I did a review which also explains why cyclists who wear Varifocal glasses normally should opt for bifocal on the bike.

Alex totally deserves the win as you said a total all rounder. Yes I feel for the other girls & there is no doubting that Chiara is a weapon of a climber, but can see why Canyon SRAM went with Alex as an all rounder.
Si, as an Australian we are taught the “Kings English”, totally agree with you. It’s further not father 😂😂
Welcome back DAN!! It looks like the time off the bike has been good for you. Your 1 watt per kilo is much higher now than it ever was.
