In this podcast, Kushal speaks with Abhijit Iyer-Mitra about Street Food in India. This podcast starts by explaining what we mean by street food. How it differs from normal food. How it became a separate thing. Then they talk about the early bloomers when it comes to street food in India in terms of region and eventually end with discussing specific food items from different states.

Abhijit sir please go through the Bengali channel "lost and Rare recipes" it actually tell you extremely rare and lost recipes as per the cookbook of old chefs which you not find anywhere in the country…. please let us know your take on the channel…
Some parts of Bengal they still eat mutton (sheep meat) even today…
Mutton is sheep meat and Goat meat is called Chevon
I have eaten golgappa in Namakkal
Sheep meat is available in many parts of India at a lower price than goat but French aunty Abhijit doesn't know about it
We do eat mutton in some parts …. In Mangalore Sheep is mutton and not goat.

Kushal bro you select the best of topics to explore with Abhijit. Abhijit is intelligence and indulgence personified.
Not a good podcast to listen to late at night. And yes, Abhijit please start the channel.
The one best street food is very difficult but I'd say, in Mumbai, the Pav Bhaji guy, diagonally opposite Haji Ali, where you eat on your cat's bonnet. I have my favorites (Right Place Sandwich opposite Breach Candy, Amar Juice Center, and Irani cafes) otherwise in Mumbai but none of them are on the street. In Gurgaon, it was Sector 14 any of the joint selling Aloo Chaat, Rolls or Momos – all great. But I was surprised even Hyderabad street food doesn't fall behind. Have lived in Kondapur for the most part and there was this guy right behind the bus stand that sold amazing Mirchi Bhajjis.
Kolkata aao Abhijit da, let's have some Nihari.
Vizag has good street food
Chat & Jhal muri.
Non Veg ka to samajh aata hai. Par ye Garlic and Onions ka kya hai!?
Only these 2 guys can turn street food talks into 2 hour long history and economic lesson.
😂😂😂
Hey Abhijit, please share some names of authentic food youtube channels
Abhijit Iyer Mitra = Basanti + Rupaul
Abhijeet behen ki cooking channel
FYI, I have had Lamb curry and it was bloody delicious… but that's in the west… maybe its different in India…
braahh, yo, that's exactly what I was thinking about this taste atlas… it's a bunch of horse 💩. I bet no one can name any of the top 5 dishes of Greece, Spain or even France… The list seemed to be compiled and somehow rated by western folk…
brah, tasteatlas placed Indian cuisine as 5th.. what the actual F, it should be 1st….
I have tried many cuisines,, and nothing, except Italian food, has even a chance… I think its partly due to the fact that everyone associates butter chicken with India, and maybe a few more dishes… but there are literally hundreds of dishes… each region has their own epic dish. ha, I had written my previous comment and then caught up to the taste atlas part in the video… Also the truth is when they say it's too spicy either their lying or they are weak-ass beaches, who haven't explored any other types of cooking…

Im waiting for your channel.

In Indore, many street vendors only sell food without onion and garlic.

neela momo for youtube
This one podcast I've listened to without skipping or pausing. 😅
i am a Kannadiga and a vegetarian. Anna Saar ( Rasam ) is our staple food with some Sabzi etc. I saw a celebrity chef and a dietitian on a podcast looking down on people eating Rasam Rice and saying shit like " Eating Rasam Rice as a staple is not healthy ". Bhai humaare ghrmein log generations se khaa rhe hai and we have no one in our family who have obesity. Coming to taste. Bhai tum Mumbai ke restuarant mein 300rs ka Rasam khaake bologe ki taste accha nahi hai toh galti meri thodi hai. We use ancestral recipes for our daily foods.
"gujaratis" did not add sugar to their food , it was saurashtra and ahmedabad that added sugar … not in vadodara. We still can't bear the amount of sugar and chili used in saurashtra.
Street food vendors use things like Ajinomoto that increases the taste but is also unhealthy at the same time.
I will join his channel
I too love food what abhijit loves street food.
10 years back ahmedabad had great street food , nowadays , Ahmedabad has costly af street food floating in cheese and butter. I am not sure what happened , but I am not a fan of it.
