SUPER EAGLES TO FACE PORTUGAL IN BIG FRIENDLY IN LISBON

The Nigeria Football Federation and Federação Portuguesa de Futebol have signed a formal agreement for the Super Eagles and A Seleção to clash in a prestige senior team friendly at the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon on Thursday, 17th November.

Already billed to play 2019 African champions Algeria in Oran on 27th September, the encounter with Portugal is another ace by the Amaju Pinnick administration, which has enabled high-end international friendlies for the Super Eagles and other Nigeria National Teams over the past eight years.

The match with Portugal will be the first clash at senior men level for both countries in the Men’s level.

CAFCL: PLATEAU UNITED ARRIVE GABON AHEAD OF SATURDAY’S CLASH WITH A.S STADE MANDJI

One of Nigeria’s representatives at the 2022/23 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, Plateau United are now in Libreville, Gabon ahead of Saturday’s first round preliminary match against A.S mandji.

The contingent led by the Plateau State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Victor Lapang, landed at exactly 6:20pm Nigerian time on Thursday evening.

The team is expected to take another flight to Franceville, the venue of the match which is one hour from the Capital , Libreville this morning.

Having finished as runners-up in the NPFL last season, Plateau United is going into Saturday’s match in buoyant mood after participating in the Value Jet Pre-season tournament that also featured three other teams representing Nigeria on the continent.

Plateau Utd’s fixture against the Gabonese side is slated for 2:30 pm Nigerian time on Saturday

CAFCC: REMO STARS TO LEAVE FOR MOROCCO ON SATURDAY, ABOARD A VALUEJET CHARTERED FLIGHT

For the first time in the history of Remo Stars the coach Daniel Ogunmodede led side will be playing in Africa’s inter club competition as they’d feature in this season’s TotalEnergies CAFCC.

Remo stars who finished third in Last season’s NPFL have a tough one against ASFAR of Morocco in the first stage of the Preliminary round at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, a 53,000 Capacity Stadium which hosted the final of the TotalEnergies Women’s African Cup of Nations in July.

20 players with 12 backroom staff, supporters, club officials & selected journalists will fly to Morocco on Saturday connecting via valuejet chartered flight.

Remo stars take on the Moroccan side by 8 pm Nigerian time on Sunday.

YET AGAIN, ANOTHER GOLD MEDAL FOR TOBI AMUSAN AS SHE RETAINS DIAMOND LEAGUE TITLE

Tobi Amusan defended her title at this year’s Diamond League as she raced to a goal medal setting a new record.

She finished the race in 12.29s(-0.3) ahead of the United States’ Tia Jones who finished 2nd (12.40) and Jamaica’s Britany Anderson who finished 3rd ( 12.42).
The win saw Tobi break Gail Devers 22-year-old meeting record.

Nominees for the Premier League player of the month award and manager of the month award for August have been revealed.
Eight players have been shortlisted for the EA sports player of the month award after producing outstanding performances in August 2022.
On the side of the Managers, five men who oversaw fantastic starts to the season have been nominated for the August 2022 Barclays Manager of the month award.
