Ten Day Forecast: Stratospheric Latest Developments & Higher Pressure For Second Half Of March?

Hello everyone and thanks for tuning in to today’s video. We’re going to look at the weather for the next ten to fourteen days for this video. Day ten will take us to the seventeenth of March – and we’ll be able to extend out beyond that with the extended GFS and ECM ensembles (they run to around a couple of weeks) – We’ll have a look at CFS v2 and ECMWF into the start of April..

High pressure will battle with low pressure this week but the weather will stay unsettled with spells of rain but also mild southerlies. Looking ahead to the second half of March we may see signs of high pressure building over and to the north east of the UK with a trend to drier and more spring like weather…

Meanwhile in the stratosphere a warming is taking place at 10hpa and 30hpa with this years Polar Vortex now slowing down…

  1. No cold Easterly; no depth on the wind tracking colder areas to the east. Looks mild and sunny for days at least with frost possibly away from coastal areas at night. Temperatures 2c to 15c here in The south.

  2. Hi Gav, the second Half of March certainly looks warm and spring like. I think that we will have a warm April instead, like what we had in 2007 and 2020 in particular, with a similar February pattern. I do actually think that the UK might well end up with a cool summer, as that sort of pattern is sometimes a sign of it.

  3. Excellent news Gav, been hitting refresh all morning waiting for this! I'm putting my chips on that very mild outlier 😉 think everyone needs a bout of heat, even those cold lovers who'll deny it!
