  1. Thank you for a very thorough analysis of our song. You really thought about what you said and didn't just speak to hear your own voice and spread your own opinion, which, I must admit, is remarkable. I will check out your other videos. Keep well and enjoy Eurovision!

  2. Being the "Eurovision Outsider" here, I will say that this song feels to me to be outside of what I usually see on Eurovision, and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. Tess, I watched your analysis first, as is my formula; that gives me the notes for what to watch/listen for. In this instance, I was prepared for a song that I was reasonably sure I would really like. Your 10/10 score was spot on, and I would really love to see the song take a powerful spot in the rankings. My cynical outsider says that the song is probably not "hip" or "flashy" enough for Eurovision (UK's entry pops painfully to mind). I hope to be proven wrong.

  3. Man, thanks a lot! Maro is so talented and so nice, such a special person. I know the relevant here is music but I'm a person's person, I guess. And about that, you have a strong character and really know how to defend your opinions and ideas! Very cool, congrats 😎

  4. The song is about her grandfather, who passed away, that is why she mentions 'I lost my best friend' in the Portuguese part. She misses him now that he is no longer with her, she feels 'saudade' from him, and no other word can translate it so well what she feels. That is why her facial expressions match the songs' vibe while singing it, since it is a very personal story to her.

  5. what an interesting reaction video, very different from others in this gender, very unique presentation. I loved it. Congratulations!
I absolutely agree with you on everything you pointed out about this ESC 2022 entry from Portugal. It deserves to be in the final!
Maro wrote this song in tribute to her grandfather who died recently, longing him because he was her best friend, her safeheaven.
That is why, besides her beautiful and very unique voice that simply stands out, Maro sings from the heart, with passion and truth.
For me it is a very special song, that has the power to reach my heart and soul, makes me want to cry and smile at the same time.
Even though there are a lot a ballads this year and some really good songs, I think that there is no other song like Portugal´s entry.
I believe that Maro is genuinely the most deserved winner this year, because she shows in lyrics and music the feeling of "Saudade".
Having in consideration that this year´s ESC theme is "The Sound of Beauty", for me "Saudade Saudade" is the definition of Beauty.

  6. This is my personal number 1. I like the warmth of the accoustic instrumentation together with the voices. That sine synth bass is placed so tastefull and makes it feel a bit more modern. If there is something to nittpick, I do think the claps in the studioversion is a bit loud and can possibly be annoying, yet I do think the claps are charming. I love countries that do something different on stage year after year and don't go the "here is another pop song" route, even if it doesn't always pay off.
    Another great review. Good job.

  7. I love Portugal's entry as I did last year. Would have liked to see this entry in 100% Portugese though as I think it would have made more of an impact. Again great entry but I can see it struggling.

  8. This is my favourite song of the year, it has such a special place in my heart. I have a soft spot for FdC itself and Maro winning with this song came at a time where I was very much feeling the same feelings the song conveys and not knowing how to verbalise them, so I'm not ashamed to say I've cried a lot to it. It really does say it in a better way. While I don't expect this to win at all (which is why I'm rooting for France), I'm really hoping this will do so much better than people expect. If it doesn't though? Well, the song won't go anywhere and I will still keep loving it.
