I don't know if the qualification as sexual assault isn't a cover up for an actual rape. The latter i guess would have more severe consquences. Anyway in Thailand this should not be tolerated as it is not hard to find and pay for the service.
I spend last month in Thailand and love it , Back to normal I love clean beaches of Phuket, expanded BTS and MRT lines in Bangkok and makover in the all cities, some restaurants close but slowly goes back to normal, Will be back in October.

Mexico is number 1? If you want to be a target of kidnappers. Indonesia is GREAT. But beware of Typhoind and Dengue Fever. All expats will get them. So, Thailand is way out in front. Never been seriously ill. Never been robbed. Love Thai food so I don't need to live in Bangkok or any place where there are lots of expats. Very good health service, but if only those trains could move faster than 30km/h. Finally The Indonesians are just as friendly as Thais. In facts apart from having diffeent religions, they are very similar.

Internations are mainly working yuppies and businessmen. They are not the majority of Expats 'living' in Thailand – most are not there for life – only for as long as their work contract. Married and Retired Expats who live in Thailand for the long term are the majority of Expats in Thailand – and they are not often members of Internations. I was a member many years ago when I worked – good for making business contacts anywhere overseas.
