  1. Here is the link for the Live Stream March 26th at 9:30 PM WET (Portugal Time) where we follow up on this topic of cost of living. 2. Were the Taco Belll food any where near like in the US. I was very disappointed with the offering in Alicante Spain. The price was way too high than US, the qty was too small. The simple basic Taco sauce was not the same and was like crushed tomatoes with salt. I thought these Franchises kept their standards the same all over the world with a local tailored menu country specific. Was a big disappointment with Taco bell.

  3. Great Breakdown of expenses. For a country with such low wages, the restaurant food seems to be way too expensive. Perhaps a good opportunity to run a restaurant business and come out like a bandit.

  4. Hi Josh and Kalie – thanks for posting this very useful video. I have a question that I didn't see addressed in the comments below. Just curious as to why you chose to have cellphone sims that you have to keep topping up? Are there any monthly plans from the big providers that would ultimately be more convenient and less expensive? Cheers.

  5. Great video and very insightful about the prices. Not as inexpensive as I'd hoped but then again Porto is a major city and you are living exactly as you want. I'll probably be searching out the daily deals, little mom and pop places and lunch specials etc and will be in a smaller town. Will find out once we arrive in Summer. Thank you for all the work that you do to help everyone!

  6. Hey we moved rom the U.S. to lisbon we've been using amazon spain. Just curious why you are using amazon germany, Thanks. We are gonna visit Porto this June

  7. Thanks for tracking a whole month’s transactions. One thing I would be interested in is estimated PT and US tax burden for a month? Maybe as a percentage of gross, so you’re not hinting away at your actual income.

  8. Super informative video! I'm surprised by the high cost (to me) of utilities and of dining out. Of course, dining out is a choice…It is awesome that the metro is so inexpensive. I plan to use it a lot and I appreciate what you shared about always comparing Bolt and Uber coming and going. The links you offer above will keep me occupied and entertained for quite a while too. I'm excited and can't wait to dig into them. Thanks again.

  9. Great video! Thanks for that. Finally made it to Madeira and lovin’ it. That €700 per month rent sounds really nice. I’ll be in Porto next month and will check out some of your favorite eating spots. Food looks great! Thanks again and take care!

  10. " Let us know which ones you know of please. 😁 – Josh & Kalie "

If I recall " BIG but their agencies don't work with money

And I think " Credito Agricola " but you have to put some amount on savings, but "Credito Agricola" agencies have separated administrations, some pay for "cadernetas" others don't so…you have to see!

  11. Awesome report. Exchange rate as of the release date is 1 Euro = USD $1.10. Had to pause and go back 15 seconds many times. You guys have tightened up production lots. Thanks again.

  12. Thanks! Great video. Did you also sign up for public health? In addition to premium you pay to Medis, do you also have to pay social taxes for public healthcare?

  13. Since it seems the bank fees seem to be a bit of a concern among your viewers, I’m happy to share some info.

The banks that have no administration fees tend to have a more online presence rather than physical places.

The following banks currently do not charge for “crazy” unjustified fees:

    1 – ActivoBank
    2 – Banco BIG
    3 – Banco Best
    4 – Banco BNI Europa
    5 – N26
    6 – Revolut
7 – Bankinter (A monthly deposit of at least 800€ required to avoid fees)
8 – Moey from Crédito agrícola. ( As suggested by another viewer)

    Hope this helps.

  14. Re bank maintenance fees. I cant remember where I saw this, but if you have a simple account ie money in, money out, not linked to other accounts and if it is your only account in Portugal, you can ask your bank to reduce the fee to Euro 1 per month. I did this with Millenium. Obviously no bank is going to advertise this but worth going into your bank and asking.

  15. Thanks for sharing! It's a money video so I gotta ask are you saving for your retirement? Down the road what are your plans for Cia and school? The international schools costs are high and tough to swallow.

  16. The bank maintenance fee is outrageous! I'm not thrilled to say this, but I couldn0't care less about Portuguese banks at this point. I have a standard account with Bankinter (a Spanish Bank, which took over the operations of Barclays Bank in Portugal). I pay no maintenance fees. I don't pay MB Way fees, not even for transfers between Portuguese banks.
