We’ve dug our trenches for a French drain, grey water harvesting and rain water harvesting. It took a while (double the six weeks we originally estimated!) and it was pretty exhausting. But, we’re one step closer to solving the damp and water related issues in our old Portuguese stone farm house.

Join us for a project that started in mid September 2021 and finished in early January 2022. Because you probably have better things to do than watch us dig in real time (although we’ve included some of that for context), this video is significantly sped up. Enjoy 🙂

The Story So Far

My name’s Guy. My wife Kylie and I bought an abandoned stone farmhouse and almost an acre of land in the autumn of 2020 and have been slowly (but surely) restoring it and bringing it back to its former glory. We’re renovating the house (doing most of the work ourselves) and rejuvenating the land and we’re living off grid in a large bell tent while we complete the works with a goal of building a semi-self-sufficient homestead.
