More and more Americans are finding solutions for a better life in Southern Europe. The Cost of living, the inflated housing market and the increasing crime are some of the main factors contributing to the death of the middle class in the US.

The meaning of retirement changed and what it defined it for boomers generation is completely different for millennials. Usually, retirees and the wealthy have been the primary American buyers of European real estate. However, more affordable housing in smaller cities and the increase of remote work have made the continent more appealing to a broader variety of people.

Let me know if the comments your opinion on the current situation for the average American.

  1. Fact check: Crime is NOT increasing (00:3400:36). “Despite the increase in violent crime, particularly murders, between 2020 and 2021, the quantity of overall crime is still far below the peak of crime seen in the United States during the late 1980s and early 1990.”

  2. The American Dream🤣 Sure, since you have to be asleep to believe it…."The American Dream is a club, and you ain't in it!". (Quote George Carlin (RIP) The American Dream!) I expect to see more US American economical refugees/ immigrants in Europe in the near future, since US is failing, even the middle class can no longer afford to live in the US even with double jobs! The social security is a joke in the US compared to Europe, if you have to go to the public hospital in Europe, it's free in your tax. In the US it could bancrupt you, so people die, rather than going to the hospital! Calling an ambulance in Europe free in your tax..in the US at least 2500$…Giving birth in Europe free in your tax…in the US minimum 10000$ + 40$ to hold your baby….do I need to say more? Love and good karma from Barcelona 🇪🇸🇩🇰♥️🙏

  3. For all the people saying that Europe is the same if no worse. Just put yourself for one minute in the following situation: you live in the EU, your life circumstances according to your own perception suck, you live from pay check to pay check with no signs that your life will progress any time soon including moving out from parents’ place or moving to your own place if you are sharing with 600 other people. Now for the sake of the argument you suffer from a chronic illness or your recently had a health scare. This is where things start to diverge. Now take all of your crappy life circumstances and add on top a massive bill you got from your recent visit to the hospital because your shitty insurance didn’t cover it all. How would you feel about it? Well that’s the USA for you. That angst you simply don’t have it in Europe for all its warts. And that is just one thing. Let’s not dig into personal safety in the cities, etc. So no, I’m afraid there is no comparison

  5. I live in Toronto where real estate and rents are ultra expensive and where there is a lack of affordable housing. The city (along with Vancouver) has been on a downward spiral for a good five years, made worse since the pandemic, and going the way of Portland, Seattle and San Francisco. There are tent encampments in most of our city parks, street people with severe mental health and addiction everywhere, and in neighbourhoods where you would not have expected to see them. There hasn't been a day over the past few months without at least one homicide (either by gunshot or stabbing), the average being 2-3 a day, worse on the weekends. I have lived 32 years in this city and can't wait to get out of it.

  7. The financial system is breaking down and has been for some time. You have people going into hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt to become some kind of professional or even earn a college degree. Not everyone should attend university but the point stands you shouldn't have to become a debt slave either. Then consider the medical system that literally will injure/kill you and then bankrupt you. The whole system is one big scam designed to extract everything from you.

The other factor is that America is no longer a homogenous country, the white population is turned against itself and now there are many people from all different kinds of countries that have created an unstable racial/ethnic situation where there is now constant level of conflict. No one wants to address this bizarre multicultural experiment that doesn't work.

I am right there with the americans leaving, the country is completely destroyed.

  8. You make some very pertinent points Antoanetta, the American dream has been in decline for decades it is the rate of decline that is accelerating and it is the benchmark for global capitalism, the pandemic has had a profound effect spin economies and many who can,are evaluating what they want from life, take care and remain positive ✌🏼🥰🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🧚🏻‍♀️

  9. Nice video, interesting content. Coming from Australia though, noticed that "Oceania" was the top ranking region (Australia NZ etc) but I think Spain, Italy and even France are wonderful areas.

  10. We retired to Spain this year. It had been planned pre pandemic. Our reasons are in this video. People don’t pay attention to how expensive the US is. Retirement would have been several years from now and likely needed to postpone it due to increasing cost of living. Americans need to wake up.

  11. That‘s funny, welcome to Europe, a place where the middle class gets destroyed as well, rents are spiraling up, costs of living going through the roof, too. There‘s an energy crisis looming and nobody knows what next winter is going to bring.

  12. It isn't only Europe. Many African Americans are becoming American Africans in West Africa (The Gambia, Ghana etc). They are no longer second class citizens; they don't need to be frightened of the police; they can afford nice houses and they start their own businesses. And the beaches are among the best in the world.
