The End Of Mexico Residency Panic? Let's Talk Facts

Mexico’s Residency prices have gone up, and additionally, it seems that no one is guaranteed 180 days with the Mexico tourist visa anymore. Welcome to our channel Why Not Now! In today’s video, we will discuss the panic that’s taking place due to rumors about Mexico visas. We have been living in Mexico for almost two years now and we have no regrets about our decision to leave the United States. We started out in Santiago de Queretaro Mexico (Queretaro Mexico) where we completed step two of the process in order to obtain our Temporary Residency. Yes, we too have noticed that the prices have gone up since we first received our residency, and after completing our renewal. So, let’s talk ~ today, we will express our opinion on how we feel about what is going on in Mexico and what this could mean for everyone trying to obtain residency here in this beautiful country of Mexico. Be sure to check out our videos on “how to obtain residency in Mexico” which also pertain to permanent residency as well. Check out our video library for more informative & enjoyable content.

  2. Guys the up to 180 day Forma Migratoria Múltiple (FMM) is not a visa but rather a tourist permit. A visa is what you get when you apply for residency at a consulate. People who move to Mexico for the primary reason that it’s cheaper usually end up disappointed. Move to Mexico because you love the weather, landscape, food, culture and people. The fact that it is possible to live cheaper is a bonus.

  3. I hear from other people that they hoped to retire in Mexico because they weren't going to have much for retirement. I hear that they are disappointed finding out they now have to have a lot of money to move down there. I am talking about myself too. I am not well off but not poor either. So like you all said, 5,000 times minimum wage? Doesn't that sound too far out? I was going to get a 1 year lease there but now don't know If i will be allowed to stay there a year. So,backed out of that deal. Looking at other countries now.

  4. Unfortunately wherever the money goes so go the prices. In the US the same thing is happening. Gentrification. Cheap is in the eye of the beholder. Compared to what? It always makes me cringe when youtubers use the C word. You guys are great.

  5. Hey hey Fam… thank you again for another great video. I am loving the edits on it with the music 🤩🎉

Just wanted to share that I got my temporary residency yesterday. Next week is my son (we have to get a form notarized and his father has to be present 🤪) but finally coming together.
I’ll be in CDMX in May and going to look to book appointment to finish my process then.

I like how you guys bring up having a home base- it is better for pets and kids … I initially wanted to travel throughout but I know all my pets would dislike it 😬. So we’ll probably make CDMX our home base for at least 6mns and travel on wknds to see what else we like out there 😄

I’m so excited to soon be there 🙏💗

  6. I received my residency on my first visit to Mexico due to the fact I wanted to start out legal. I love following your moves. I also lived in Querétaro for a while then moved on. Like your content and just enjoy your vlogs. You are a beautiful honest couple. I look forward to seeing you guys when you put out content. Keep up the good work

  7. Thanks for answering my question! and yes I was referring to greenspaces and parks 🙂 We have been to a few areas in MX and would like to spend a year or so there. We're in Canada and have 3 kids but we would apply for temp res as we can meet the requirements – just need to get that appointment which is also tricky here in Calgary. I'm the only one who speaks spanish in our family but what a difference it makes to be able to chat up locals. However it is exhausting when my husband wants me to translate all his would-be conversations such as asking the stonemasons working on a house all sorts of questions for which I did not have the vocabulary…Loving the realness of your channel

  8. Great video and great information. I enjoy the reality of the content you two provide. I also live abroad in a town in South America and only do YouTube videos for memories because I can’t get pass 100 subscribers 😂. But I enjoy it and I appreciate the subscribers who find it entertaining and leave their comments. I work in a normal job in the country as a local, so living like a local and not trying to change the culture I %100 agree. Also I understand how only the larger creators get pushed up.
Also slow travel and having a home base is the way to go in my opinion 👍🏽.
Keep up the great work, I know what it’s like to struggle with visa issues and I know all will work out for you two when renewing your residency visa.
    Take care.

  9. As far as I know, the formula for determining financial solvency has not changed. What changed is that the minimum wage was increased by 22% on Jan 1st of this year. I agree that some of the other YTubers are fanning the embers on the issue of the “crackdown” on days granted. In fact, as you suggested, I did post a comment to one of them asking for their residency status, no reply and they have been posting YT videos from Mexico for years while “living” here. But…I don’t blame any country that sets the bar high to attract new immigrants who can help boost the economy instead of attracting people that just live like “the locals”, which I take as meaning on a strict budget.

  10. I agree. It is B.S. that YouTubers are telling viewers to dress nice or act as if they are rich because my daughter was born in Puebla, Mexico and when we flew into Mexico City the agent gave us both 30 days.

  11. Yeah well, unfortunately the last 30 years there has been a hollowing of the middle class in all western nations. And the upper echelon have gotten so wealthy they have too much capital to deploy. Then the middle class and poorer classes are looking at more affordable nations to have a better standard of life. If Mexico is smart they will do what the Thai's, Indonesians (Bali), and Phillipines have done and not allow foreign ownership of Real Estate before the values explode further and more Mexicans get pushed out of nice areas. I am Australian and middle class (of Spanish and Peruvian heritage) and had the amazing experience of going to Mexico a few years back for my best friends wedding in Oaxaca and was mindblown, so much so I intend on purchasing property there next year (probably Queretaro or Merida) as an investment and potential place to live for a year or more with my family (if I can convince my wife who has not been). Mexico is special. I smashed the like button. Your channel is quite different to the other ones. You will get there friends. I will engage your services for some assistance next year. Lots of love from Sydney.
