Hi guys, I am Alex.

I am an Ukrainian expat who moved to Portugal.
No one in my family ever did any farming, But I discovered that I am very passionate about farming so recently I’ve purchased this 28 hectares Farm in Central Portugal, with the intention to start a small scale farm raising worms, cows and sheep.

In this little farm I am also planning to build an off grid home, and be as self sufficient as possible, by growing my own food.

I created this channel to share my journey with the world, The journey of a first generation farmer, that is starting with no prior knowledge and experiences.
That maybe all the mistakes that I will make along this journey, and all the fails maybe will help some of you to learn from my mistake and not make them yourself.
I want to bring value and inspire people who are thinking about farming.

I am not a filmmaker or an editor, I am just a simple guy with a camera.

So if it is interesting to you, subscribe to the channel and you will not miss the upcoming episodes.

  1. Hello, Alex. If you go with a two bedroom plan in the larger room, you could have both bedrooms against the far wall in the large area with each bedroom leading into the living area. That is typical old Portuguese building style as well. It would also give you room for either one or two bathrooms.

  2. Shift the rooms, have the dividing wall along the roof ridge, and more the bathroom to be on the opposite side. This will eliminate all that hall way and incorporate it into the bedrooms. The kitchen I would also switch to the back wall opposite side of the doorways, this will help putting all the plumbing closer together…

  3. Would a dormer window in the roof be allowed? It would possibly give you room for a bedroom upstairs. I agree with raising the walls using the same stone as the original building is a good idea.

  4. I really like the second interior design idea (my guess is it was your idea 😊). Using the larger room as an open plan kitchen/living room with a small bathroom tucked in the corner sounds lovely. For the kitchen area, can you create an L-shaped peninsula with the sink positioned so you would face into the room? That way, anyone in the kitchen won't have their back to the living room. Also, the peninsula countertop could be wide enough so you can have stools for dining. I agree with your decision not to raise the roof height. I find that unattractive. What are your plans for the interior ceiling? Can you line it with a beautifully stained wood?

  5. Divide the smaller room into two bedrooms . Drill a second door for the second bedroom . Put the bathroom in the corner of the big room next to the bedroom doors. You will have the rest of the larger room for living space and kitchen with that nice big window for light. Whatever you decide it will fit your dreams.

  6. Interesting the pathways, inside. I've always wondered the need of pathways in southern Europes houses. Here nord we tend to say all the wallways and corridors are wasted area of space. They make also house dark. Nowadays open kitcgens, they also have their problems as the smell and oily steam which you do not want to spread to your clothes and books etc.

  7. Make two bedrooms in the left side. Put the badroom In the back of the entry and the kitchen on the backwal. Then jou have very smal llenght of the pipes. Every tingh is very close to etsorder.

  8. Things I would consider: The sun. In the summer it is your enemy, and in winter it's your friend. In the winter you want the sun to hit different surfaces of the house so that it will heat the house, and will expell the heat through out the dark hours. In the summer you want the roof overhang to shade those same surfaces. I hope the front of your house faces south because you will get more solar gain in winter. Remember the sun is lower in winter and can enter the house even with the roof overhang. Then: I say haveing fewer bedrooms and larger rooms is the better plan. Is there another building on your property that could be an additional bedroom with good privacy? I will send links to various videos that may be helpful. Sending to your e-mail.

  9. Всем привет. Смотрю все твои видео. Жаль, что не знаю английский и не могу понять о чём ты расказываешь.
Когда – то на своей даче я тоже строил планы и вотворял их в жизнь.
    Всех люблю, обнимаю.

  10. I agree with the others you really should check out The Indie Projects. Bea and Theo have converted a stone barn and increased the hight and like you Theo likes things to be done in a traditonal manner x

  11. Plan 1 loses too much space with hallway which will be dark and closed in . Plan 2 you could. Configure that into two bedrooms with an ensuite . Bedrooms could be divided by a wardrobe wall for storage

  12. I say 2 bedrooms, if it is going to be you & your Father. Each of you are going to want your privacy, so…
Except at night or in extreme weather conditions, y’all are probably going to be outside so you really don’t need a lot of indoor space.
If you go with the one bedroom, who gets the Master ? Not really fair to the other person.

  13. Can you dig down in the house ? I don't know how deep in the ground your rock walls go but if you can get close to a meter deeper in the house it will be cooler and enough height for bed sleeping lofts . ❣️❣️❣️

  14. Pathways in the house is for no use, try to make another plan. Example; the small room as a bedroom.
The big room with a bedroom in the corner and the toilet in the other corner. The rest of the big room as kitchen/ lounge area. That way you will not have any corridors or pathways…
Another thing is, not having 2 bedrooms alongside with each other.
Exciting to follow Alex… good luck
