Slow down? they try to pull this bullshit, what actually can lower fuel consumption is predicting what happens on road and driving in the optimal rpm and speed for your car, avoid breaking. The highest fuel consuption is when you accelerate so if you want to be eko then get up to your speed fast and cruise, this might not work in cities when you have to stop often but if you see a red light there is no need to speed up in order to stop at the lights. Another thing is engine breaking to slow down, this also drops consumption significantly so drop the slow down and no travel bullshit while they jump into their private jets.
